The `construction and operation will be readily apparent from the foregoing description, and minor changes may be made without departing from the spirit and scope of the invention as claimed.
What I claim as new is e Apair kof railroad crossing gatesl constructed and adapted to be automaticallylowered belowthe surface of the roadwayto open position and automatically raised above the roadway to closed position, and comprising each a pair of hollow pillars lsunk below Athe roadway and rising above the same, said pillars having slotted inner sides, a gate structure havinga frame work with top and bottom rails projecting through the slots and vertically slidable therein, pulleys mounted within and at the upper ends of said pillars, cables passing over said ypulleys and attached to' said gate, a 'horizontal shafty passing through` said pillars below the roadway,
` winding ydrums mounted on `said shaft and connected with said shaft, and with train controlled devices, whereby'said gate is raised having wound thereon said cables, and means and lowered by the passing ofa; train over .said devices and means including sprocket 'I wheels and chains whereby operative movement is conveyed from the motor shaft of one gate to the other gate;
