This invention relates to collapsible tables and has for an object the provision of a table which will be stronger and more pleasing in appearance than tables now in use for similar purposes. p

Fig. 5, is a sectional view of modified form. Referring to the drawings, a table top 5V is provided with four side pieces 6, and supy ported -at the center by a member generally shown at 7, which is composed of two 4-sided yfrustro- pyramidal l sections 8 and ,9. The

upper frustro-pyramidal section 8, has each l of its sides connected to the vunder side `of the table top by hinges 11 and the lower frustropyramidal sections are in juXta-position at the center of the support 7, and the four sides of the upper sections are connected respectively to the four sides of the lower section by hinges 13.

In order to hold the `center supportk in a rigid position, a member 14 is provided which may be lslid'down on the upper section 8 to tightly clamp the four'sides in a fixed position.

It will be seen from the above description Y that I have provided a strong and durable, 7 yet simple collapsible table which may be 5 readily set up in position for use or collapsed with less effort and more conveniently than heretofore has been the case with collapsible tables. Furthermore, when set up inAposi-A tion, the table is strong enough to be used as a permanent piece of furniture, if so desired, and it will have a stable and permanent appearance. n

Although I have described my improve- 8 ments with considerable detail and with respect to certain particular forms of my invention, I do not desire to be limited to such details since many changes and modifications may well be made without departingfromthe spirit and scope of my invention in its broadest aspect.
