My invention relates to toys.

It is the object of my invention to provide a toy capable of developing the muscular control of a small child, at the same time being capable of amusing and educating the child. It is my object to provide a toy which can be manipulated, which provides something to happen to amuse the child, while it is being manipulated, and which is both harmless and indestructible.

It is my object to provide a toy which will train small children in making simple move- 'ments of the arms, such as from right to left and up and down movements, thus training the major muscles first before endeavoring to train the minor muscles.

It is a further object to provide a toy which, when manipulated, not only provides amusement and movement of parts to attract the attention of the child and the accomplishment of a given task by the child, but also provides a reward for the child in that it tells an instructive story, thus giving the child mental activity as well as muscular activity.

Referring to the drawings in detail, 1 represents a top plate having a plurality of slots designated 2, 3, 4:, 5 and 6 which are located above a trackway generally designated 7 in which travels anactuating ball 8. This ball is maintained in spaced relationship from the topplate 1 and the bottom plate 9 by internally extending marginal flanges 10 which are formed along the margins of the slots 2',

The side wall 11 serves to join the top and bottom plates 1 and 9. The side walls of the tracks adjacent the openings 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6 are formed by any number of ball guiding and spool containing members or fillers The filler, such as that shown intriangular shape at the right hand of Figure 1 consists of an upper triangular plate 12 having a picture opening 13. At the base of the triangle is formed a side wall 14 that is connected tc the upper triangular face12 along the line 15. On one side of the triangle is a second side wall 16 connected to the plate 12 along the line 17 A'slot 18 is provided through which the disk 19 containing the pictures 20. 21, 22 and 23 projects. This disk is mounted upon a spindle or axle 24 located in a hole 25 in a depression 26 in the surface of the plate 12.

Mounted on this axle 24: are a plurality of arms 27 which project through the opening 28 in the side wall 16. A second slot 18 is provided in the side wall 16 for a second disk 19 which is mounted upon the same shaft 2 1 and which is adapted to have it v pictures exposed through the opening 29 in the bottom plate 30 of the filler. The bottom plate 30 is provided with marginal flaps 31 and 32 adapted to engage and overlap the side wallsin order to form a completed structure. A slot 33 is provided in one of these 'fiaps for accommodating one of the picture disks. The two plates 12 and 30 are connected by a side wall strip 34 having moving picture disk slots 35 and 36. The juncture lines of connection are designated 37 and 38. An overlapping end flap 39 is adapted to be bent along the line 40 at its line of connection with the side wall 34 to form an overlapping engagement for the purpose of completing triangular-shaped box-like enclosure made from the blank shown in Figure'7. Such a box-like enclosure, which may be made triangular or any other desired shape, is provided with a top or bottom or both picture openings 13 or 29 with picture disk slots, such as 18, 18, 35, 36 and 33 and with an opening, such as 28, through which the arms actuate the picture disks and extend, so as to be engaged by the ball 8 to bring about the movement of the pictures.

A filler without the openings or disk is connected generally at 41. Other fillers are designated generally at 42 and 4:3.

The toy may be made in such a fashion as to disclose pictures on both sides of a single disk on both sides of a toy, or two disks may be used, or a single disk may be used being exposed on one side. I prefer, however, the form shown in the drawings. The picture spaces 20, 21, 22 and 23 may have any desired pictures and arranged in such a sequence that the child may move the pictures to be presented for view through the openings i l, 45 and 46 in the top plate 1 or similar openings in the bottom plate 9. In order to protect the pictures these openings may be covered with transparent material. Associated with these openings on the top and bottom of the toy are various pictures which are appropriate for use in combination with the pictures that are being presented in succession through openings in the stationary designs on the top and bottom of the cover. Such stationary designs are d signated 4:7, 48 and 49. One of the pictures is a castle, another a barn and another a circus tent.

For instance, when the child is given the toy, his mother may tell him a story such as: A little boy went for a walk and let us see what he saw on his journey. (Here the ball should be at the upper right hand corner of the box and the ball runs down the runway and turns the spool and a picture appears at the upper window). lVhen the boy came to the barn he saw a horse in the barn. Then he went on and on until he found a circus on a vacant lot and sure enough there he saw a great big elephant sitting like a cat. After he left the circus he came to a fairy house and there he saw the king talking to his people. Then he decided that he had better go home and he found that he had to wander a long way until he came back to his home before he could take another journey. The pictures which appear through these openings are those pictures appearing in the blanks 20, 21, 22 and 23.

The toy consists essentially of a slotted cover, a ball, a picture wheel moved by the ball and openings in the cover to display the pictures together with suitable guiding means under the cover for the ball.

The toy may be adapted for the development of skill and amusement by putting obstructions in the trackways of the ball. This would require more skill in manipulation on the part of the child. For instance, numbers and letters of the alphabet may be placed on the revolving disk in addition to or instead of the pictures.

It will be understood that I desire to comprehend within my invention such modifications as may be necessary to adapt it to varying conditions and uses.

Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. In a toy, an enclosure having a picture opening, moving means within said enclosure moved by the movement of the enclosure, and disks moved by said moving means carrying pictures adapted to be displayed through the openings in said enclosure.

2. In a toy, an enclosure having a picture opening, moving means within said enclosure moved by the movement of the enclosure, and disks moved by said moving means carrying pictures adapted to be displayed through the openings in said enclosure, said enclosure having additional openings through which the moving means in its movement is disclosed.

3. In a toy, an enclosure having openings therethrough for displaying movable pictures therethrough, stationary pictures mounted on said enclosure, movable disks within said enclosure for carrying pictures to be displa ed through the openings in said enclosure, and means within said enclosure for moving said disks for displaying pictures 1n succession.

4. In a toy, an enclosure having openings therethrough for displaying movable pictures therethrough, stationary pictures mounted on said enclosure, movable disks within said enclosure for carrying pictures to be displayed through the openings in said enclosure, and means within said enclosure for moving said disks for displaying pictures in succession, said movable means consisting of a ball.

5. In a toy, an enclosure having openings therethrough for displaying movable pictures therethrough, stationary pictures .mounted on said enclosure, movable disks within said enclosure for carrying pictures to be dis played through the openings in said enclosure, and means within said enclosure for moving said disks for displaying pictures in succession, said moving means consisting of a ball, and track means for guiding said ball for actuating said movable picture means.

6. In a toy, an enclosure, a track within said enclosure, a moving member guided by said track. picture carrying disks movably mounted within said enclosure adapted to dis play the pictures thereon through an opening in said enclosure, actuating means connected to said disks and projecting into said track in the path of said moving member adapted to be actuated by said moving member as it moves along said track whereby the pictures are moved successively into visible position to be viewed through the openings in the en closure.

7. In a toy, an enclosure, a track within said enclosure, a moving member guided by said track, picture carrying disks movably mounted Within said enclosure adapted to display the pictures thereon through an opening in said enclosure, actuating means connected to said disks and projecting into said track in the path of said moving member adapted to be actuated by said moving member as it moves along said track whereby the pictures are moved successively into visible position to be viewed through the openings in the enclosure, and stationary pictures mounted on the exterior of said enclosure.

8. In combination in a toy, an upper cover having openings therein, a lower cover, side walls having slots therein joining said covers, fillers within said covers spaced from one another to form a track, a ball adapted to roll through said track, axles mounted in said fillers having arms mounted thereon projecting through slots in the side walls of said fillers, picture disks associated with said axles adapted to have pictures thereon displayed through openings in said cover.

9. In combination in a toy, an upper cover having openings therein, a lower cover, side walls having slots therein joining said covers, fillers within said covers spaced from one another to form a track, a ball adapted to roll through said track, axles mounted in said fillers having arms mounted thereon projecting through slots in the side walls of said fillers, picture disks associated with said axles adapted to have pictures thereon displayed through openings in said cover, and slots in said covers over said track to permit the position of the ball to be ascertained- 10. In combination in a toy, an upper cover having openings therein, a lower cover, side walls having slots therein joining said covers, fillers within said covers spaced from one another to form a track, a ball adapted to roll through said track, axles mounted in said fillers having arms mounted thereon projecting through slots in the side walls of said fillers, picture disks associated with said axles adapted to have pictures thereon displayed through openings in said cover, and slots in said covers over said track to permit the position of the ball to be ascertained, and means associated with said slots for maintaining said ball away from the slots.

11. In a toy, an enclosure having a top with picture openings, fillers in said toy spaced from one another to form a track therein, said fillers having picture openings coinciding with the cover openings, picture disks pivotally mounted in said fillers having pictures thereon to be displayed through said openings, actuating arms associated with said disks projecting into said track, a ball in said track for actuating said actuating means and moving said'picture disks, said picture disks and actuating means being mounted on an axle carried by said filler.

12. In combination in a toy, of a filler blank consisting of an upper plate and a lower plate having picture openings and axle supporting openings, side wall members connected thereto for connecting the upper and lower plates, some of said side wall members having slots therein.

13. In combination in a toy, of a filler blank consisting of an upper plate and a lower plate raving picture openings and axle supporting openings, side wall members connected thereto for connecting the upper and lower plates, some of said side wall members having slots therein, and axles in said axle supporting openings, said axles having picture disks extending through part of said slots and projecting fingers projecting through other of said slots.
