UNITED STATES PAT-ENT OFFICE JOSEPH L A REDDOLA, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK DISPENSING APPARATUS Application led May 23, 1928. Serial` No. 279,865.
. This invention relates to dispensing apa". These arms have rollers a mounted beparatus of the type adapted for dispensing tween their ends and are formed with downrneasured quantities of a cream, such as shavwardly extendingi shoulders at Extending ing cream, tooth paste, etc. Existing forms upwardly from the faces of the shoulders a, 'of these devices have included receptacles for are guide rods a7 upon whichA slides a cross- 55 holding the tube and, in some instances, de'- piece b. Coil springs Zi', seated in recesses b2 vices for ejecting measured quantities of the of the cross pieces b normally force the latter contents thereof, but none hascombined a upwardly and tension the tube in a manner practical and effective tube holder which exdescribed hereinafter. Threaded recesses a8 10 erts sufficient squeezing pressure upon the are formed in the shoulders a6 and adjustable 60 tube with an effective means for dispensing thumb screws a9 vary the tension .in the the contents of the tube. springs b. Mounted between the cross-pieces An 'object of the present invention is to b is a key b3 which is slotted to receive the end provide an apparatus of the above character of a tube c of any desired substance. It will which combines a manual take-up or tension be seen that the key b3 may be turned to set 65 device with a spring tensioning device to exup a desired tension in the tube and thus force ert a suiicient squeezing pressure upon the the contents thereof downwardly through the tube and a plunger operated mouth piece for mouth c thereof. the tube which ejects a given quantity of the As a dispensing, -or ejecting means, a tube 2 cream whenthe plunger is depressed. The d is formed with a threaded neck ai for en- 70 ejector is slidably carried inthe fixture and, gaging the mouth c of the tube c. This tube as the contents of the tube are consumed and d is carried in a block e having a dove-tail the tube is rolled at its end, the ejector fole for engaging the dove-tail slot a3 in the lows the tube into the position representing standard a. In this manner, the ejector tube the condition thereof as being empty. d follows the tube c upwardly as the contents A further object of the invention is to proof the latter are dispensed. Below the neck vide a receptacle and apparatus which is simal an aperture d2 is formed in the tube d. An ple in construction, easy to operate and the inwardly extending portion e2 provides a elements of which do not become damaged or guide for a cylindrical plunger f which enget out of repair. Further objects will apgages the inner periphery of the tube cl. This 80 I pear as the description of the invention pro-V -plunger is provided with staggered apertures ceeds and reference will now be had to the f and f2, the former being aligned with the accompanying drawings, wherein: neck d when the plunger is in its outer` posilFigure 1 is a view in side elevation showtion, and the latter being aligned with the ing a preferred form of the invention. aperture d2 when the plunger is pushed in- 85 Figure 2 is a view in front elevation of the wardly. A cap f3 conceals the head of a device shown in Figure 1. screw g which extends through the plunger F igureS is a view in section, taken on line and is secured in the extension e2. A coil 3 3 of Figure 2, and looking in the direcspring` g lies'about the screw g and engages tion of the arrows. f plunger f4 in the plunger fto cause the latter 90 Figure 4 is a view in section, taken on line to normally lie in the position shown in Fig- 4-4of Figure 1, and looking in the direction ure 3. About the coil spring, and closely of the arrows. fitting the restricted portion g2 of plunger f, Referring to the above drawings, reference is a tube g3 which protects t e spring from character a designates a standard having a the substance carried by the tube and serves base a which may be secured upon any deto maintain a free action of ,the mechanism. sirable surface by means of screws-a2. Along It will be seen that the space between the one side of the standard, a dove-tailed slot a3 tube g3 and the cylindrical plunger f will be is formed and the upper extremity of the filled with the substance carried by the tube standard is bifurcat-ed te pro-vide two arms c by reason of the pressure exerte upon the up er end of the tube as described above. WEen the plunger f is depressed, aperture fmoves to the leftand causes the substance within the plunger to be trapped. Simul- 5 taneously with t is, aperture f aligns itself with aperture d and permits the contents of the plunger to be ejected. v A
It will be apparent that changes in the design and arrangement of parts may be'made 10 without departing from the scope of this invention and the atter is not to be limited, save as defined in the appended claims.
I claim as my invention: 1. In a dispensing apparatus for a tube of a fluid substance, a support, a key carried by the support for winding the end of the tube manually, squeezer rolls, means to mount the tube between the rolls, shoulders on the support, springs carried by the shoulders, and blocks carried by the key against which the .springs en age.
2. In a 'spensing apparatus fora 'tube of a fluid substance, a support, a key carried by i the support for winding the end of the tube manually, squeezer rolls, means for exerting a pressure on the key, a casing carried by the tu e, means to mount the casing slidably in the sup ort, a plunger in the casing, and a y spring or` normally retracting the plunger. 3. In a dispensing apparatus for a tube of a fluid substance, a support, a key carried by the support for winding the end of the tube manua squeezer rolls, means for exerting a ressure on the key, a casing carried by the tu means to mount the casing slidably in the support, a hollow plunger in the casing, apertures in the lcasing and plunger, and a spring for normally retracting the plunger. Th1s specification signed this 22nd day of May, A. D. 1928.
