ELECTRIC BODY COMB.

The object of the present invention is to provide an improved appliance for conducting a current of electricity through the body and ospeciall 1 from the scalp to any 5 other part of the body.
The improved appliance preferably consists of a handle made of insulating mate rial carrying a number of metal combs arranged in parallel planes and which are fixed together in electrical contact and means for connecting the whole group of combs to one pole of a source of electric current. The handle is set perpendicularly to the planes of the combs. The combs are 3 preferably separated'by metal washers in the form of plates and are clamped together by means of bolts and nuts.
The group of combs is electrically connected to a metal member passing through if" the insulating handle and terminating with means by which it may be connected to one pole of a source of electric current.
The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which Fig. 1 is an edge view of a group of combs and the handle and Fig. 2 is a plan thereof.
Fig. 3 is a detail View of part of the conducting member shown in Figs. 1 and 2.
As shown in Figs. 1 and 2,0 is a perforated insulating handle through which passes the metal conducting plate h. At its lowerv end the plate h is formed into a screw threaded rod 0 and terminates in the form of a split pin 0 The combs d, made from sheets of metal having teeth out in opposite edges, are separated by metal washers or distance pieces 6, and are clamped tightly together by 40 through the combs and distance pieces 70 and nuts Z. The combs d are preferably formed with large and small teeth on opposite edges as shown, so that they may comb through the hair and conduct the electricity to the scalp. A clamping nut j is screwed on to a screw threaded part h of the plate 7b and a nut 71 on the screw threaded part c secures the combs aland metal washers e to the handle a and the split pin 0 is adapted in known manner to make contact with a wire leading from a suitable source of electricity.

One group of combs being connected to the positive pole of a battery or other source of electricity and the other group being connected to the negative pole, the current will pass from the head through the body to the part afiiieted.
It will be noticed that the whole of each electrode, with the exception of the insulating handle, is made of metal, consequently; if any part of the head of the appliance be placed in contact with the body, electrical current will pass to the body and any hairs which may pass up between the teeth to the bases thereof will also receive an electric current.
hat I claim as my invention is:-
1. In an electric body brush, the combination with a group of sheet metal combs arranged in parallel planes, of a handle projecting perpendicularly to the planes of the combs forming said group, said handle being provided with a longitudinal hole extending therethrough, a current-conducting rod extending through the longitudinal hole in said handle and electrically connected to said sheet metal combs, said current conducting rod being adapted at its outer end to be connected up with a source of electriclty, and means carried by said current-conducting rod for binding said sheet metal combs together and uniting them to said handle.
