HAIR-TINTING DEVICE.
Application filed September 4, 1926. Serial No. 133,552. 1
which has recently grown in of a grey color,-
so as to prevent the dye used from running onto the hair whlch has been previously dyed, which Wlll prevent the streaking of the hair which has been previously dyed,
tinted, or the like.
Fig; 1 of the drawings, illustrates my improved device in a person.
Fig. 2 is aside elevational view of my improved device. 1
Fig. 3 is a top plan View thereof.
Fig.4 is a transverse sectional View taken on the line l4 of Fig. 2. j f
Fig. 5 is, a perspective view of my im proved device, showing same in anopen position. V
Fig. 6 is a similar View to that shown in Fig. 5, illustrating a further development of my improved device.
Fig. 7 is a similar View to that shown in Fig. 6, illustrating another development thereof. I
As here embodied my improved device comprises a clamp member 10, hinged at one extremity, in the usual well known manner, as at 11, to one extremity of the clamp member 12. The clamp member lO-has attached use, applied to the hair of ball member 13, of the usual snap fastener, adapted to engage the socket member 1a of the said snap fastener, which is attached ,to the clamp member 10, as a means of holding myimproved device in a closed position as illustrated in Fig. 2 of the accompanying drawings.
rugated, is attached,'as at 22,by a pin or the The object of the invention thereto, at or near its free extremity, the
The said clamp members 10 and 12, have their lower edges formed with av extended elements 20, and 21, formed corlike, attached to the clamp members 10 and 12. The pins 22 are positioned in elongated.
slots 23 formed in the extended elements 20 and 210f the said spring 18, and are provided with enlarged heads, so as .to secure the engagement of the said spring.
will, permit the spring 18 to normally hold my improved device in a tightly closed posia tion, which will more readily. prevent the dye used from running onto the hair previously dyech 1 I The above described construction being suchv as In Fig. '7 of the accompanying drawings,"
the flap members 23, having curved lower edges 24, similar to the above mentioned curvature 15 of theclamp members 10 and,
12, are pivotally attached, as at 25, at one extremity, at or near the center ofthe clamp members 10 and 12. The flap members 23, have formed therein elongated slots .26, adapted to receivethe-pins 27, attached to the clamp members 10 and 12, and which are provided with enlarged heads, so as-to permit the said .pins 26 to frictionally hold the flap members 23 in .anydes'ired position, so as to accommodate my mproved device to the heads of persons of-va'rious sizes, asmay be accomplished by pivoting the flap memhere 23, as designated by the dot and dash lines 28.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to protect by Letters Patent of the United follows:
LA device adapted to prevent hair previously dyed'from being streaked when dye or the like is applied to the new grown hair States is as comprising clamp members pivotally attach er, said clamp members held in a closed position by a snap fastener, said clamp members provided with curved portions, adapted to conform to the head of aperson, a notch provided at the upper edge of the free extremity of the clamp member, a second notch formed in the lower edge of the second clamp member, so as to permit the device to be readily opened.
2. In combination with a device of the class described, a spring attached to a clamp tached at one extremity, at the center of clamp members, said flap members having formed therein elongated slots adapted to receive pins attached to the said clamp members, said-pins provided with enlarged heads, so as to permit thcsaid pins to frictionally hold the said flap members in any desired position, as av means ofpermitting the curved edges ofthe said flap members to accommodate the head of a person,
41-. In a device ofthe class described, a clamp comprising hinged side members, a projection element of a snap fastener on one of said side members at the' free end thereof, and a socket member of a snap fastener on the other side member positioned in registration with said projection element, said side members having an arcuate shaped lower edgeadapted to fit the curvature of a head for permitting said clamp to engage the short length of hair and hold the same inf upright position extending outwardly from thehead. i i i 5. In adevice of the class described, a clamp comprising hinged side members, and fastening means on the free ends of said hinged side members for holding the latter in closed position, said side members having arcuate edges adapted to conform to the curvature ofa head for permitting engage members to be rotated in opposite direc-' tions with respect to each other for disengaging said fastening means. i
cuate edges adaptedto conform with the cur 'atureof a head, a hinge pivotally connecting said side members, fastening means on the free ends of said side members, said
side members being adapted to be rotated to position adjacentto each other for-clamping strands of hair therebetween and for hold ing the same in outwardly directed relation to the head, a projection element on one of said side members, and a socket member on the other side member adapted to register with each other when said side members are rotated to adjacent position, the extremities of said=side members being provided with non-registering notches for permitting said side members to be rotated to open position v for disengagiiig said projection and socket.
In. testimony whereof I have afiixed my signature. f r
