rThe 'device comprises tWo comb-likeV` side pieces l0. These have rather short teeth as compared to a comb, With blunt ends and Witii the teeth separated Widely at the base so that the ends of the teeth cfy each eide piece can be received in the space between the two teeth of the othei' one. For .this reason the two side pieces can be cut outl of a single piece of sheet pyroXoline, hard rubber or other material as indicated in Fig. l. rihey are shown as held together at their ends by a couple of spr'ngs or elastics ll, so that in packing orstorin g they, Will occupy the relative positions shoWn in Fig. l and Will retain them.

The elastics are covered With cloth to prerent Wear and preserve the rubber.

In the use of the device` it is taken in the hands and bent over to the position shoWn in Fig. 3, or substantially so. It does not` come quite to that position because the'V4 thumbs of the user coinein bet-Ween the side pieces. In placing it in position the teeth `are projected downwardly toward the head.

Uponletting go of the side pieces the elastics ll bring them together substantially in a plane and the teeth are projected through a Wave of hair as shoWn in Fig.y 5. This is a very simple manipulation of the device Vas it does not require any assistance and there is no danger of getting itplaced incorrectly. The device is really automatic in operation and not only adjusts itself but .enters into the hair by its oWn action. It has no clasps orinetal parts, nothing to adjust or connect and no metal springs. The device cannot fall out of the haii' after being put in place as the elastics pull each comb against the other and thereby constantly hold it securely in place. lt Will hold tlie hair during sleep Without the use of nets or other devices. `rlhe size of the Wave can be regulated by the ainount vof stretch given to the rubber in pulling the combs apart. This is so Within the control of the user that it can be done even Without the eid of a mirror. Although I have illustrated and described. only one forni ofthe invention I am aWare of the fact that many changes can be made therein by any person skilled in therartklike side pieces adapted-to be placed With their teeth projecting toward each other at a. distance apart aiid having a pair of elastica permanently connecting the ends of both and of such length as to normally force the tivo pieces together With the teeth of each one eX- tending into the spaces between the teeth of the other.
