MACHINE SPRING.

The object of this invention is to provide a triple spring which can be used in various places to strengthen parts and used in other places where the use of a spring is required.

This invent-ion also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claim.

In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several view", and in which Figure 1 is a view showing the invention in use on a sewing machine to facilitate the movement of the pedal thereof.

Figure 2 is a view of the spring itself.

Figure 3 is a view of the center partof this spring.

Figure 4 is a view showing the spring in use as strengthening a screen door.

As shown in these views, the spring comprises a central member 1 of triangular shape and the coiled springs 2 which are connected with the corners of the member 1 and are each provided with a hook 3 at the outer end. The central member 1 is formed of asheet of metal and a strip of wire 3 which is bent into triangular shape. The edges of the sheet are rolled around the straight portions of the wire and the corners of the sheet are cut away to expose the looped corners of the wire so that the ends of the springs can be placed in these loops.

lhis spring device can be used in various places. The drawing shows it as being used for normally holding the rear part of a 1926. Serial No. 111,881.

One spring of the device is fastened to a part of the frame of the sewing machine which is shown at A and two of the other springs are connected with the pedal. When this spring device is used with an old sewing machine, it will greatly improve the operation of the machine.

Figure 4 shows the spring device used to strengthen a screen door which is shown at B. One spring is connected with a lower corner of the door and one of the other springs is connected with a cross piece of the door while the third spring is connected with one of the uprights. Thus the spring device will tend to hold the parts of the door frame together and the device will prevent the screen door from sagging, as it will where but one spring is used. Of course, the device could be used for other purposes, if desired.

It is thought from the foregoing description that the advantages and novel features of my invention will be readily apparent.

I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claim.

hat- I claim is A. spring device of the class described comprising a central member of triangular shape and formed of a triangular piece of wire having each corner looped and a triangular strip of material having its edges rolled around the straight portions of the wire, with its corners cut away to expose the loops and a coiled spring connected with each loop.
