L. JACOBS CARRIER FOR BUGKETS AND THE LIKE Filed Dec.
Patented June 21, 1927.
UNITED STATES LILLIAN JACOBS, 0F CINCINNATI, OHIO.
CARRIER FOR BUCKETS AND THE LIKE.
Application filed. December 8, 1924. Serial No. 7 54,697.
My invention is a combination of a carrier frame of skeletonized construction and a series of two or more sectional buckets or containers so fitted as to nest together in the carrier frame to the end that they may be readily carried as if but a single bucket. One of the objects of my invention is to provide, as in a two section bucket, separate receptacles for suds or cleaning fluid and for rinsing water for scrubbing floors and the like. Another object of my invention is to so arrange the separate sectional buckets that any one or more may be removed for the purpose of replenishing the contents without disturbing the other buckets in the carrier frame. A further object of my invention is to provide for carrying a plurality of liquids or materials each ofa different nature as, for example. various colors of paint. A fourth object of my invention is to provide a compact-multiple-compartment container more readily carried and more convenient of access than the multiple containers heretofore employed for similar purposes. By providing a simple light and compact framework such as is hereinafter described I reduce the manufacturing cost to a minimum.
My invention comprises the combination of parts and the relations thereof set forth in the description of the accompanying drawing, in which Figure 1 is a perspective view of the carrier frame with two sectional buckets shown therein, the latter being indicated by dash lines. Fig. 2 is perspective view of sectional bucket of semi-circular cross-section such as is shown in dash lines in Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a plan view of a carrier containing sectional bucket-s, the angularly disposed sides being at sixty degrees one to the other. Fig. 4 is a plan view of a rectangular frame containing four rectangular buckets or containers.
The accompanying drawingillustrates the preferred embodiments of my invention in which 1 is the carrier frame comprised of the upper hoop 2, preferably of metal, the
lower hoop 3, the cross bars 1, and the side.
members 5, all of metal and riveted together by the rivets 6. To the hoop 2 are riveted the ears 7 into which are looped the ends 8 of the bail 9.
Shown in dash lines in Fig. 1 and in full in Fig. 2 are the buckets 10 of semi-circular crosssection and adapted to slip side by side into the carrier frame 1. These buckets are provided with cars 11, into which are looped the bails 12. Either the frame 1 or the sectional buckets 10 may be provided with handles as indicated in dotted lines at 13, the use of handles in the place of bails be ing optional.
The number of sectional compartments which may be provided with and for any carrier frame is unlimited as is shown by the six sectional buckets 14 indicated in Fig. 3. Nor need the shapes of the sectional buckets be sectors of a-circle in cross-section as indicated in the first three figures, but
they may be of any convenientshape as, for
example, square as at 15, Fig. 4 triangular, hexagonal or. other form at the option of the maker. Nor do I confine myself to the cylindrical outline of the frame shown in Fig. 1, but the frame may be rectangular or of any convenient outline.
In use, the various sectional buckets may I each contain separate liquids or solids, or semi-solid materials as powders, or one or more may be empty at the option of the user. They may be removed. one at a time for replenishing, cleaning or for the substitution of other similar containers at any time.
I claim:
1. A carrier for buckets and the like comprising a skeleton frame, buckets in the frame, the buckets having cross-sections approximating the sector of a circle, divisional strips'attached to the frame and projecting inwardly between the buckets, a carrying bail on the frame, and carrying bails on each of the buckets.
2. A carrier for buckets and the like, coinprising a frame, a plurality of buckets in the frame, a bail on each bucket, a bail on the frame, and divisional strips projecting inwardly from the frame to separate the buckets.
In witness whereof, I have hereunto affixed my signature.
LILLIAN JACOBS.
