The present invention is concerned with.` in the base 1'0and' ina bearing 1'9`ca'rrie'd`by ,y the provisionof game apparatus which bracket 20 securedV to the. interior of the will be both interesting. and amusing/to old. base. Shaft 1,7' isdniven either tliroughthe andA young alike` y instrumentality of` a motor or through a 60 5 lt vfinds its preferred embodiment 'in a hand wheel sucl'rA as 21'f disposed at the.' unique typel of apparatus in which a movexterior of tlie base. l 'i i able member moimted upon an eccentrically Preferably the turntable `l1 fis'not sup.- rotatable table is shifted by thev action of portedl directly upon the eccentricl', but is. the table into any oneY of a series of idensupported by a series of' links 22S-pivotally "65 lo titled pockets or compartments, means being connected to studs' 23 projecting' from thev preferably provided for manually rotating .upper face of the base, and to. studs. 24S de? the table to actuate the movable member in pending` from the bottom of'l theturntable.v Y a chance determined direction toward oneofI The studs 2.3 and 24 may be. in the nature the pockets. ofscrews and'. may have associ-ated' therewith 70 *More specifically, the movable member is. spacer sleeves 25,1t'o prevent any movement in the nature .of a top caused to spin or to `of the links 22' in a vertical plane. k A l. move While spinning about the. surface of' 'Ehe length. of the links 22" is of lcourse the table dueto. thel eccentric movement of directly proportional t0 theV throw of the the latter, and the means vfor eccentrically eccentric, so that as the turntable is 'eccen- 75 rotating the table preferably includesahand trcally rotated, the links 22 Will rotate Wheel or motor acting through suitable about their pivots 23. gearing to drive an eccentric. A movable element, such for instance as Ubjects of the invention are to provide atop 30 is adapted to be supported on an amusing game apparatus of this charthe turntable. An npstanding peripheral acter which will be of simple, practical conflange 31 prevents the top from sliding off struction, rugged and durable in use, neat the edges of the table and near this flange and attractive in appearance, easy to manipare an annular series of pockets or openings ulate, and inexpensive to manufacture. 32 into any of which the top is adapted to l/Vith the above noted and other. objects enter. These pockets may be numbered with 85 in View, the invention consists in certain certain values not illustrated, or certain of novel features of construction'and combinathe pockets may be designated by stars or tions and arrangements of parts, as Will be other identifying marks as shown. more fully hereinafter set forth and pointed ln operation, the top is grasped and spun out in the claims. The invention may be near the center of the turntable, Vthe hand 90 more fully understood from the following Wheel is then grasped and rotated rapidly to description in connection withV the accomcause an eccentric rotation of the turntable.
panying drawings, Wherein- This rotation Will impart to every point .on Fig. 1 is a top plan View of the apparathe turntable a relatively restricted circular tus. motion, so that the top will be Vkept spinning 95 40 F ig. 2 is a vertical sectional vieW thereuntil such time as it Works its Way into onev through on the line 22 of Fig. l. of the pockets.
In the drawings the numeral 10 represents If the top is properly proportioned, and the base of the apparatus 'which may be of sufficient speed is imparted to the turntable, any desired shape and construction. As ilthe top may actually be picked up from a l0@ lustrated it is in the nature of a box-like central position yand 'spun by the moving housing which conceals the driving gears for table beneath it. y l the eccentric turntable 1l mounted above The manner of scoring the game or the the base. Preferably a stub shaft l2 verparticular Way in which the pockets are tically mounted in the central portion of designated, of course is subject to awide 10,5 V the base member carries at its upper end a range of variation, in fact numerous changes circular eccentric 13 workingI in a dependand alterations might be made in the general ing bearing sleeve lllcarried by the turnform and arrangement of parts described table. The lower end of the stub shaft may without .departing from the invent-ion. carry a bevelled pinion 15 meshing With a Hence I do not Wish to limit myself to the pinion 16 on a horizontal drive shaft 1'?. details set forth, but shall consider myself Shaft 17 may be supported in bearings 18 at liberty to make such changes and alterations as fairly fall Within the spirit and `scope of the appended claims.
I claim:
1. A game apparatus includingJan eccentrically rotatable turntable upon which a movable member is adapted to be supported, and a series of devices adjacent the edges of the turntable into any of which the movable elementv is adapted to be directed by the eccentric rot-ation of the turntable.
2. A game apparatus including an eccentrically rotatable turntable upon which a movable member is adapted to be supported, and a series of devices adjacent the edges of lthe'turntable into any of which the. movable element is adapted to be directed by the eccentric rotation of the turntable, said movable element comprising a top adapted to be spun by t-he eccentric motion of the table.
' 3. A game apparatus including an eccentrically rotatable turntable upon which a movable member is adapted to be supported, and a series of devices adjacent the edges of the turntable into any of Which the movable element is adapted to be directed by the eccentric rotation of the turntable, said table having openings therein near its periphery adapted to serve as the receiving lmembers for the top.
4. In a game apparatus, a turntable upon vwhich a topis adapted to be supported, and means for eccentrically rotating the table to spin the top, `said means including a shaft, an eccentric on the shaft received in a bearing sleeve depending 'from the table. y
5. In a game apparatus, a turntable and means for eccentrically rotating the table, said means includinga shaft, an eccentric on the shaft received in a bearing sleeve depending from the table, and means for supporting the table independently of the eccentric. n y j 6. In a game apparatus, a turntable and means for eccentrically rotating thetable,
said means including a shaft, an eccentric on' the shaft received in a bearing sleeve` depending from the table, and means'for support-ing the table independently of the eccentric, comprising links 'pivotally connecting` thev bottom of the turntable to stationary studs below the table, whereby the links are rotated about the stationary studs as the turntable is actuated b the eccentric.
