Briefly, the invention has reference to a conventional show window standard, a novel adjustable sign supporting frame, and a novel coupling between the frame and the standard.

Referring to the drawings in detail, the reference character 1 designates, generally, the standard, 2 designates the special coupling, and 3 the sign holding frame.
The standard 1 comprises a suitable base 4 and an upright 5 of hollow tubular form, and an adjustable rod 6. The lower end of the rod telescopes into the upright 5 and is held in various adjusted positions by a set screw 7. It will be noted also that the upper end of the rod 6 is screw threaded at 8.
The coupling 2 as shown in Fig. 4, is. of general right angular form and comprises a. single strip of material 9 bent upon itself at one end as indicated at 10 to provide a short overlapping ply 11. The opposite end is bent upwardly at 12 and disposed at an approximate acute angle with respect to the fbodywportion 9. 4.The portions ;9,and11"are formed with a screw. threaded hole which is threaded ontol ,the vend 8-of-lthe .rod 6. The lower end of this section 14 maybe directed to provide a stop V17. Cooper-able with the sleeves 15 are longitudinally adjustable card gripping members 18. Each member, as shown in Figs. 3 and 5, comprises a pair of metal strips provided with comple* mental guide channels 19 and 20. The chan'- nel 19 is carried on the upper edge of one member for instance, and the channel 2O is .carried on the lower edge of the complemental member. rlhe two strips are stamped or pressed into the shapes shown in Fig. 5 and afirm but sliding connection is thus provided which permits the two strips to be readily maintained in different adjusted positions to which they are moved. The outer end of each metal strip is offset at 21 and terminates in a card gripping hook 22. From the foregoing it will be seen that the standard 1 is more or less of conventional design, being somewhat similar to the customary standards employed in store windows for holding various kinds of supporting heads. The coupling 2, appears to be novel and provides a unique connection between the sliding rod of the standard and the novel supporting head or sign holding frame. It maintains the frame in an inclined position to facilitate supporting of the card.
The novel way in which the sliding sections of the card gripping members 18 are pressed into shape and engaged with each other permits the devices ofy the unit to be slid through thev respective sleeves 15V and then permits respective adjustment of the parts of the members themselves. No doubt, by carefully considering the description in connection with the drawings, persons fainiliar with structures of this class Will be able to obtain a clear understanding of the saine. Therefore a more lengthy description is thought unnecessary.
lVliile the preferred embodiment of the invention has been shown and described in detail, it is to be understood that minor changes coniing within the field orx the invention claimed, may be resorted to it desired.
Having thus described iny invention, I claim as new is l. n a sign holder of the class described, a special coupling` adapted to serve as a connection between a sign holding traine and a standard, wherein the standard includes a vertically extensible rod having its upper end screw threaded, said coupling coinprising a strip of metal bent at one end to provide an upwardly inclined part to be enwhat gaged with said ranie, and having its op posite end bent into overlapping relation with the central body portion, said overlapping end and body portion being t'orined with aligned screw threaded holes to thread onto the upper end of the aforesaid rod.
ln a sign holder of the class described, a standard comprising a vertically adjustable rod having its upper end screw threaded, a sign holding` trame, and a coupling between said traine and said rod, said coupling being in the forni of a one-piece body of right angular orin, one portion of the body being disposed in a horizontal plane and being liorined vwith a Screw threaded opening threaded on the upper end ot said rod, and the other portion of the body extending npn'ardly 'roni the horizontal portion and being detachably connected with said lraine.
