' CAMP TABLE.
I Application filed February 28, 1925. Serial No. 12,306.
This invention relates to improvements in tables,
and particularly to collapsible camp It is an object of the invention to provide an improved collapsible camp table, which may be collapsed int-o'box form, and which may be easily and quickly setup into a table structure.
Further objects and advantages will be made manifest in the following detailed description and specifically pointed out in the appended claims, reference being had to the accompanying drawings for an illustrative embodiment of the invention, wherein:
F igure 1 is a perspective view of the improved camp table inset up position;
Fig. 2 is a perspective view, parts broken away, of one of the table legs;
Fig. 3 is a vertical section taken substantially on the line 33 of Fig. 1;
Fig. 4 is a perspective view of the cover part of the table, which is adapted to cooperate with the bottom part, shown in Fig. 5, in forming the table top; and V Fig. 5 is a perspective view of the bottom part, parts being broken away to show the legs of the table and the rails disposed therein.
' Referring to the accompanying drawings wherein similar reference characters designate similar parts throughout, the improved table consists of a box part 10 and a cover part 11. These parts are substantially identical and are made in the same manner. The box part 10 consists of two end members 12 and 13 and two side members 14 and 15. Upon the bottom surfaces of the end members 12 and 13 there are formed groove 16,
being and notches 17 are formed in the sides 14 and 15, which register with the grooves. A bottom 18 is secured upon the bottom surfaces of the ends 12 and 13 and the sides 14 and 15, and this bottom covers the grooves thus providing a passage extending through the ends of the box part 10 and through the sides 14 and 15. Recesses 19 are formed in the upper surfaces of the ends 12 and 13 of the box part 10.
r The cover part 11 is formed in a similar manner, having ends 20 and 21 and sides 22 and 23. In the top surfaces of the ends 20 and 21 there are formed grooves 24, and notches 25 are formed in the sides 22 and 23,
the top surfaces of ing through the recesses are similar sages formed by the resilient portions the ends 20 and 21 and the sides 22 and 23 and covers the tops of the grooves 24 and the notches 25, thus providing passages extend- 7 ends and sides of the cover part 11. Becesses 27' are formed in the bottom surfaces of the ends'20 and 21, which tothe recesses 19 formed in the ends of the box part 10.
The box part 10 and the cover pa rt 11 are adapted to cooperate to form a closed box, one part being positioned upon the other. These parts are adapted to be-secured together by'any suitable fastening means indicated at 28 and29, thusforming a closed box adapted to receive the legs and rails, as shown in Fig. 5'.
VVh'en it is desired to set up the camp table, the box part 10 and the cover part 11 are arranged side by side, with the pasgrooves in their end walls arranged in alignment. The rails 30 and 31 are adapted to be passedthrough the passages formed in these parts, and thus the parts are secured together in side by side position. The legs of the table, indi cated at 32,.are adapted to have their upper ends inserted into the recesses 19 and 27. These legs have their upper ends provided with saw-cuts 33, providing a plurality of upon the legs, giving a sufficient spring so that the legs may have their upper ends'inserted into the recess-es and will provide a tight fit. Preferably, the recesses 19 and 27 are slightly inclined so that the legs are downwardly and outwardly inclined, as clearly shown in Fig. 3. The legs 32 and the rails 30 and 31 are of such a length that they may be readily placed'within the box part 10 and enclosed therein. By forming the passages which receivethe rails 30 and 31 in the ends walls, no apertures are provided in the side walls of the box communicating with the interior of the box formed by the box part and cover part, and other camping equipment may be placed within these parts in addition to the legs and rails, if so desired.
It will be understood that various changes 1 in the detail of construction may be made without departing from the spiritor scope of the invention as defined by the appended claims.
' I claim:
1. A collapsible camp table having a box" part and a cover part, said parts being substantially identical, the box part having 'two end members and two side members,
' grooves and j atop corresponding to there being grooves across the lowersurfaces of the end members near then-ends and there being notches in the side members to I reglsterwlth the grooves, there 'bemg" a bottom secured upon the lower surfaces of the end members and side members covering.
the grooves, thus providing a passage extending through the end members and side' members, the cover part having ends, sides,
the bottom of the box part, the grooves and notches in the box part anda cover part, sald parts being subbe inserted through the stantially identical, the box part having tWO' endmembers and two side members, there notches, the cover part having parts are side by side as being grooves acrossthe lower surfaces of theend members near their ends and there being notches in the side members toregister With the grooves, there being a bottom secured upon the lower surfaces of the end members and side members covering the grooves, thus providing a passage extending through the end members and side members, i
there being recesses formed in the upper surfaces of the end members, the cover part having ends, sides, grooves and notches, the cover part having a top correspondlng to the bottom of the boxpart, the grooves and notches in the boxpart registering'with the grooves and notches in the cover part, the cover part form a closed boX, rails adapted to be inserted through the passages When the parts legs having yielding ends adapted to fit re movably in the recesses. 1 i i In testimonyswhereof I have signed my name to this specification.
