FEEDING nun DISCHARGING APPARATUS FOR macnmns non MATERIAL TREAT- MENT. i
Application filed April fi, 1925, Serial No. 20,496, and in Czechoslovakia April 17, 1924. P
I the shaft carrying the cams causing the periodical outletand inlet of the material out of and into a shelling drum. The dual 75 coupling between the driving and cam shafts is actuated by a stop-disc which is adapt-ed by suitable transmission gear to rotate slowly in one direction and quickly in the opposite direction under the action of a spring through an angle less than 360 between I twolbuifers or stops, which are movable away from or towards each other so that the periodi'n which the material is allowed out of and into the machine can be made longer or shorter. V
Oneconstru'ctional form of the invention is illustrated by way of example on the accompanying drawings in which Fig. 1 is an elevation of'the shelling machine;
Fig. 2 is a sectional view illustrating the arrangement of part of the gearing; Fig. 3 is an enlarged view of a detail; 7
Fig. 4 is a modification of the stoprdisc apparatus. 1 i
Referring to the drawings The stop disc 1' which oscillates on the axle 2 through an angle less than 360 carries an adjustable stop 8 (Figure 2) by which the'amplitude of the oscillations of the stop-disc can be regulated. An integral stop 4 is also formed on the disc 1 and is adapted to impact upon the buffer 5 fixed 'on a stationary part of themachine. On the rotation of the stop-disc 1 the stop 3 strikes the lever 6 which by meansof transmission gear hereinafter. described actuates a dog clutch 7 toconnect the cam shaft 19 i with the driving shaft 14:. The rotation of 24, and thereby disengages the stop-disc l from the friction clutch 25 (Figure 2) whereupon the stop disc, is rotated in a V clockwise direction by the spring 11 till the stop Alimpacts upon the buffer 5. On
further rotation of the cam 8 the lever!) will be released and the clutch 25 reinserted by the pressure of the spring 10.,
The disc 1 receives its movement from the gear wheel 26 which is driven by means of the axle 12from the driving shaft 14 which inturn is in gear with the axle 27 driven by the shaft 28 of the drum 29. y
The cam 21 (Figures '1 and l) before the end of each partial rotation of the cam shaft 19. (in the course of each period) strikes;
the part 30 of the clutch lever 6 and brings the same into the starting position again, that is, with the dog clutch 7 out of engage ment. Reconnection of the dogclutch occurs with successive periods.
The treatment of barley on a periodical shelling machine of this type takes seven or more times longer than the simple shelling of corn, and the course of the stop-disc ought therefore to be shorter with corn' shelling. Accordingly dual transmission gear 13 is arranged on the shaft 1a. This shaft drives a friction clutch from which the stop disc 1 receivesrits motion so that the stop-disc can be made greater than in -with corn shelling the speed of rotation of the case of the longer treatment of barley and in this manner a better regulation of the corn shelling is obtained.
The dualtransmission gear 13 on the shaft 12 by which the gear wheel 26 is driven automatic regulation of its speed there is an increase in the speed of the water motor permits either slow or quiolc'rotat-ion of the j shaft 12 through engagement with one or or other power unit used and in the speed of the transmission gear and shelling machine.
In order to prevent this racing or rise in speed a proportionally dimensioned flywheel is arranged on the axle 17 whereby,
in known manner, a substantially constant speed of rotation is ensured, notwithstanding the. varying load on. the engine.-
A fiy-wheel 18 which at the same time serves as an impeller for the fan of the ma chine is fixed on the axle 17 (Figs. 1 and 3-). It is obvious that the fly-wheel can be arranged on the axle 17 independently of the impeller of the fan.
The stop-disc 1 can also be provided with one stop only, in which case its buffer on the stationary part of the machine is arranged so as to be adjustable and with this arrangement the stop of the stop-disc when the latter rotates in one direction will strike the lever 6 and when the disc rotates in the other direction will strike the adjustable louder.
In Figure l a stop disc is shown of which the stop 4 impacts on the clutch lever 6 when the disc is rotated in one direction and when the disc is rotated in the other direction impacts upon the buffer 5, which latter is adj'ustably disposed on the ring 39 of a stationary part of the machine so that by adjustment of the buffer 5 the amplitude of the stop-disc can be regulated.
