This invention relates to a game and has for its object the provision of a device in which a ball is pro elled at a predetermined speed and receive at one end out a table having a coil of sheet metal forming a track within which the ball is forced, pockets-be-l ing provided in the table within the confines of the coil to receive the balls.
A further'object or the invention is the W provision of a game including a table havmg an enclosure formed bya coil of sheet metal with a gate to receive a ball propelled with predetermined force with pockets in the table withinthe confines of the coil to receive the balls and plungers located within the pocketsend connected with a movable frame whereby the plungers may be elevat ed for forcing the ball out of the pockets while at the same time the coil is elevated by means of similar connections with the frame so that the ball may be permitted to roll to the opposite end of the table from whence it had been projected.
This invention will be best understood 25 from a consideration of the following detailed description, in view of the accompanying drawings forming a part of the specification; nevertheless it is to be understood that the invention is not confined to the disclosure, being susceptible of such changes and modifications which shall define no material departure from the salient features of the invention as expressed in the appended claims.
Figure 1 is a view in perspective of the game constructed in accordance with the principles of my invention,
Figure 2 is a bottom plan view of the same,
Figure 3 is a longitudinal vertical section taken on the line 3-3 of Figure 1,
Figure 4 is a transverse vertical view showing'the operating mechanism for forcing the ball from the pockets,
Figure 5 is a longitudinal section of the projector,
Figure 6 is a'transverse vertical view taken on the line 6-6 of Figure 5, and
Figure 7 is aside view of the game.
Referring more particularly to the drawings 1O designates a table having side walls 11 and front and rear end walls 12 and 13, respectively. The table is supported by means of hingedly mounted blades 14 braced 55 by bars 15 and maintained in vertical positron by means of a pair of bars L6 pivotally connected together at 17, the ends of the bars 16 being ivoted respectively to the bottom of the ta le 10 and to a leg .14.
One end of the table i's-slightly elevated and 1s provided with a plurality of pockets 18 which are adapted to receive a ball which is forced intothe passage 19 formed at the spaced ends of a coil 20 formed of sheet metal.
Lugs 21 are secured in spaced relation to the platform or frame 22 located below the table 10 and have their ends projecting through openings in said table and connected to the coil 20. Plungers 23 are likewise secured to the frame 22 and have their upper enlarged ends '24 seated within the passages 18 of the table 10. I
The frame 22 normally rests upon a crank 25 'which has one. end 26 mounted in a hearing 27 carried by a bracket 28 de ending from the underface of the table. T e other end 29 of the crank is likewise pivoted in the'lower endof a bracket 30 which is supported on the undertace of the table. A lever 31 is secured, at 32, to the end 29 of the crank and is adapted to be actuated through a rod 33. This rod has its outer end connected, at 34, to the upper end of the lever 31. llhe other end of the rod 33 is connected to the upper end of a lever 35 which is rigid with a shaft 36 mounted in bearings 37 carried by the bottom face of the table 10 and adjacent the inner end of the table. The end of the shaft 36 projects beyond-the lever '35 and is adapted to receive a socket 38 of a crank or operating arm 39, the socket passing throu h an opening in the side wall 11 of the ta le 10.. A second opening 40 is provided in the side wall adj a cent the outer end of the socket so that it a may be inserted through said opening and engage the free ends 41 of the crank 25, the crank being secured to the bottom of the frame 28 by means of a bearing 42.
.Atthe inner end of the table is provided a projecting device, designated generally by the numeral 45. This device consists of a housing 46in which is slidably mounted a hammer 47 operated by a knob 48 movable throu h an opening in the top of the housing 4 A spring .49 has one end received within the socket 50 of the hammer 47 and has its other end secured b means of a bolt and nut'51to the rear en 52 of the housing. The forward end of the housing is provided with an opening or socket 53 adapted to receive a ball which is projected towards the opening or passage 19 in the coil 20.
The operation of my device is as follows: The ball is placed in the socket 53 and the knob 48 is'grasped by the fingers and the hammer 47 forced a ainst the tension of the spring 49. By sudtfiinl releasing the knob 48 the hammer 47 will e forced against the inner end 53 of the housing 46 and projects the ball toward the opposite" end of the table and through the passage 19 in thecoil 20. The ball will then moverby reason of the speed imparted to it until it comes to rest either in one of the pockets 18 or against the inner side wall vof the coil 20.
It will be noted that the pockets are numbered and these numbersar'e adapted to indicate the scoring during the game. When it is' desired to force the ball from anyof the pockets 18 it is only necessary to grasp the lever or operating arm 39 and move the same in the direction indicated by the arrow in Fig. 1 whence the frame 22 will be elevated against the underface of the'bottom 10 through the crank 25 so that theplungers 23 will be moved upwardly through the pas sages and force the ball from the same. At this time the coil 20 will also be elevated so that the ball may he turned to the front end- 12 of the table by reason of the fact that the table 10 is inclined towards-the forward end.
I claim 1. A game comprising a table having a plurality of pockets at one end, an enclosure having an opening, with the enclosure embracing the pockets, and means for elevat ing the enclosure above the table.
2. A game comprising a table having a plurality of pockets at one end, said pockets extending through the table, plungers slidably mounted in said pockets, means for elevating the plungers for forcing the plungers to the upper end of the pockets, an inclo sure having an opening adapted to embrace the pockets, and means connecting the inclosure with the actuating means of the plungers for simultaneously elevating the inclosure.
3. A game comprising a table having pas.-
sages therethrough' forming pockets, an inabove the table, and means at the opposite end of the table for projecting a ball into the inclosure.
4. A game comprising a tablehaving a plurality of spaced passages at one end of the table forming pockets, a frame supported below the table, a crank connected with the frame, a shaft integrally formed With the crank, bearings projecting from the table and supporting the ends of the shaft, plungers carried by the frame and movable through the pockets, said table being provided with spaced openings, lugs carried by the frame and movable through said opening, an approximately circular inclosure carried by the lugs and located above the table, asecond shaft, links and levers connecting the shaft for simultaneous'operation whereby the crank will be actuated to cause elevation of the frame and likewise the plungers and the inclosure.
5. A game comprising a table having a plurality of pockets atone end, said pockets extending through the table, prongs slid ably mounted in said pockets, an enclosure having an opening and embracing the pockets, and means for elevating the enclosure above the table.
