' My invention relates to improvements in garment hangers.

An object of my invention is to provide a device for hanging trousers in an upright position instead of in an inverted position as is necessary with the hangers now generally used. r

Another object of my invention is to provide a device, to accomplish the above objects, that may be mounted on a closet door or wall and may be swung against said door or wall.

Another object of my invention is to provide a device that is simple and economical of construction and operation for attaining the above objects.

These and other objects are attained by the means described herein and disclosed in the'accompanying drawings, in which I Fig. ,1"is a side elevation of a device of my invention.

The hanger 10 of my invention comprises an arcuate body portion 11 having a clothes pin or clamp 12 secured to its front end 13. Anextension or bracket 14 is formed at the other end 15, of the body 11. One member 16 of a hinge 17 is secured to the extension 14 by any suitable means, such as screws 18. The other member 19 of the hinge 17 is secured to the door or wall 20 of a cupboard or closet. The hinge 17 permit-s the hanger 10 to be swung next to and adjacent the said door or Wall 20, as disclosed at 21 in Fig. 6.

The body 11 extends below the extension or bracket 14 thereby providing an arcuate ledge 22 over which the rear portion 23 of-a pair of trousers or the like 24 is placed. The front portion 25 of the trousers 24: is received 7 between the jaws 26 and 27 of the clothes pin or clamp 12. A spring 28 yieldingly resists separation of the jaws 26 and 27 of the clamp 12 thereby retaining the trousers 1925. Serial No. 28,910.

Fig. 6 illustrates how a multiplicity of hangers 10 may be mounted on a panel 35, so asto form a group of hangers that can be readily secured or'fastened to a wall or the like when more than one hanger is desired.

Although I have shown and-disclosed my garment hanger as one made of wood, it

should be noted that the same may be made of wire or metal as well. Further, instead of using a detachable spring clamp or clothes pin 12, this clamp may be developed integral with the body of the hanger, at the. end of said body, should the body he made 'ofwire,

What I claim is: i

V 1. A trouser hanger comprising an arcuate body portion having a bracket formed there-- on, an arcuate ledge extending from the body portion below the bracket over which the rear portion of a pair of trousers is placed;

supporting means carried by the front end of the body portion for receiving the front portion of the trousers, the supporting means being in alignment with the ledge for tautly retaining the waist band of the trousers in a horizontal position, and a hinge secured to the bracket for hingedly mounting the hanger.
