LOUIS HUMBERT, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
SANITARY DEVICE FOR CLEANING AND IVIPING RAZOBS.
Application filed July 13,
My invention relates to devices for wiping away in a sanitary manner the material which is taken up by a razor during the process of shaving and for cleaning the razor and keeping it in a presentable and sanitary condition. The object of my invention is to provide a simple, easily operated, economical and efiicient apparatus for the purpose above mentioned. 7
The invention consists in the novel construction, arrangement and combination of various devices'elements and parts, asset forth in the claims hereof, one embodiment of the same being illustrated in the accompanying drawings and described in this specification.
In the accompanying drawings,
Fig. 1 is a perspective view of a device embodying my invention; and
Fig. 2 is a vertical section of the same.
In carrying my invention into effect in the embodiment thereof which I have selected for description in this specification and illustration in the accompanying drawings, I provide a frame 11, which is open at the rear end, being at the left hand of the drawings The front portion of the device, shown at the right in the drawings, may be sloping as represented. J ournaled near the upper edge of the said frame is a roller 12, and journaled in the lower portion of the said frame are rollers 13 and 1 1. The ends of the last named rollers project out at one. side of the apparatus and bear milled heads for rotating the same, 15 and 16.
In the rear portion of the machine, between the side frames 11, is placed a box or other receptacle of suitable size and shape, designated 17. This receptacle may have a handle 18 to facilitate its removal, and it is adapted to be removed from the device at any time either by sliding backwards or lifting the same up through the open top of the frame.
I provide a strip of fabric, designated 19, which may be of any suitable material, fibrous or even paper if desired, but the same is preferably partially absorbent so as to be adapted to readily remove from a razor drawn thereacross any substance adhering thereto. This strip is wound on the rollers 13 and 14 and secured at one end to the roller 14 and at the other end to the roller 13, and intermediate its ends passes over the roller 12. The receptacle 17 is so positioned 1926. Serial No. 122,167.
in the device that its front wall is located partly under the roller 12, the receptacle be ing held in such position by the sill 20. The top of said front wall is provided with a sharp edge 21, over which the strip 19 passes when it is transferred from one of the rollers 18 or 14; to the other.
The operation of my invention is as follows: The device being placed in a conveniently accessible position with regard to the operator, who is engaged in shaving, the razor, upon becoming partially covered with lather, and hair, from the face of the person being shaved, is drawn across the fabric 19 which passes over the roller 12, thus removing the lather and hair and'thoroughly cleaning the razor in a sanitary manner. I have represented at Fig. 2 such matter removed from the razor, the same being designated 22. The milled head 15 is then ro- 7- tated in a counterclockwise direction, thus drawing the fabric 19 downwards, rolling it up upon the roller 13, and unrolling it from the roller 14, and during such motion the material 22 is scraped off by the sharp edge 21 and falls to the bottom of the receptacle 17. the same being indicated at 23, thus bringing into position a fresh, clean and sanitary portion of the material 19.
IVhen required, the. receptacle 17 may be removed, thoroughly washed, and replaced in the device. When thestrip 19 has been completely used and is entirely rolled upon the roller 13, it and its rollers may be removed from the device and thoroughly washed and after drying replaced so that a clean, fresh and'sanitary cleaning and wiping surface is always ready for use in connection with the razor.
The advantages of my invention-will be obvious from what has been said with regard to its construction and operation.
I do not limit myself to the particular form and arrangement of parts which has been above described, as it is obvious that 1 considerable modification of the same and variation in the shape and other details can be permitted without departing from the spirit of my invention or the scope of the claims hereof.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is as follows:
1. A device for wiping razors, comprising n1 cu in combination: a frame, a strip of material adapted to wipe and clean a razor, a pair of rollers join-milled in said frame, one end of said strip being seemed to and Wound on one of said rollers and the other end of said strip being secured to the other of said rollers, and a third roller over which a portion oi? said material intermediate ends is adapted to pass, whereby when one of said firstnaiued rollers is rotated, :tresh portions of said strip pass successively over said third roller. i
2. A device For wiping razors, eoniprisin in eonihinatimi: a frame, a strip of material adapted to Wipe and clean a razor, a pair of rollers journaled in said frame, one end at said strip being wound on and se' cured to one of said rollers and the other end of said strip being secured to the other of said rollers, and a third roiler over which a portion of said material intermediate its ends is :uhipted to pass, whereby when one of said first-named rollers rotated, :tresh portions of said strip pass successively over said third roller; and a receptacle placed partly under said third roller and having the upper edge of one wall thereof in contact with said strip and adapted to remove from said strip, as said strip passes said edge Inaterial deposited upon said strip when a razor is wiped thereon.
El. A. device for wiping razors, comprising in combination: a frame a? strip of material adapted to Wipe and clean a razor, a pair of rollers journaled in said frame, one end of said strip bei n g Wound on and secured to one of said rollers and the other end of said strip being secured to the other of said rollers, and a third roller over which a portion of said inaterial interntiediate its ends is adapted to pass, whereby when one of said first-named rollers is rotated, i'resh portions of said strip pass suecessivelyover said third roller; a receptacle placed partly an der said third roller and having the upper edge oi one Wall thereof in Contact with said strip, and adapted to remove .t'rom said strip, as said strip passes said edge, material deposited upon saidstrip when a razor is wiped thereon; and devices adapted to rotate said first-mulled rollers and thereby more said strip over said third roller and said edge.
In witness whereof I have hereunto signed my name this 5th day of July, 1926.
LOUIS HUMBERT.
