T E S OTTO WILLMAN, OF COSEY BEACH, CONNECTICUT.
COMBINATION TOOL.
Application filed April 24 Fig. 1 is a face view of a combination tool constructed in accordance with my invention;
F i g. 2, a side view of same;
Fig. 8, a broken side View, the reverse of Fig. 2;
Fig. 4, a detached plan View of the decapper disk removed;
Fig. 5, a detached plan view of the canopening disk removed;

This invention relates to improvement in combination tools, and particularly to the combination with a pair of pliers of a canopener, bottle-decapper, wire-cutter, and jar-top remover, the object of the invention being to provide, in a simple way and in a single tool, means for accomplishing the various acts above mentioned, and the invention consists in the construction as hereinafter described and particularly recited in the claims.
In carrying out my invention, I employ a pair of pliers of usual construction, formed from sheet-metal, comprising handles and 11 provided with jaws 12 and 18, these two members being connected together in the usual manner by a rivet 1 1. Between the members and mounted on the rivet 141 are two disks 15 and 16. The disk 15 is formed with an upwardly-extending hookedlinger 17, with a shoulder 18 and with a downwaidly-extending bearing 19, the shoulder 18 coming to a bearing against the outer face of the gripping-jaw 20 of the member 11, and the extension 19 bcaring against the handle-portion 11. The disk 16 is formed with a can-opening blade 21, with a shoulder 22 and with a downward extension 23, the shoulder 22 hearing against the outer surface of the gripping-face 24 of the other member of the pliers,.and the extension 23 hearing against the inner face of the handle thereof.
These disks 15 and 16 are formed on opposite sides with notches 25 and 26 co-acting to form wire cutters. The jaws 12 and 13 have perforations 27 extending at a right angle to the plane in which the jaws move to receive the ends 28 and 29 which are bent at a right angle to the plane of a wire-loop 30 which may be inserted or removed as desired. With the loop 30 removed, the tool can be used in the ordinary way as a Serial No. 104,311.
pair of pliers or as wire-cutters, and the hook 17 co-acting with the outer edge of the jaw 13 provides a bottle-decapper, while the blade 21 co-acting with the outer edge of the jaw 12 can be used as a can-opener, these jaws l2 and 13 forming fulcrums for the decapping or can-opening.
' To use the tool as a jar-top remover, the ends of the loop 30' are inserted through the perforations 27, and the loop 30 placed around 'a jar-top of the Mason type. Then, when the handles are pressed together, the loop will be contracted and the ends of the jaws form a fulcrum to bite into the edge of the cap, so that, as the tool is moved, the cap will be unscrewed, the jaws thus forming fulcrums for the decapper, canopener, and jar-top remover, as well as forming bearings for the stops of to prevent them from turning.
I claim: 1. The combination with two plier membe e connected together by a rivet, of a pair of disks mounted on said rivet between said members, one disk formed with a decapping hook at one side of and co-acting with one jaw and the other disk formed with a can-opening blade at one side of and co-acting with the other jaw, the said disks also formed at their inner ends with extensions to engage with said members.
2. The combination with two plier mem bers connected together by a rivet, of a pair of disks mounted on said rivet between said members, one disk formed with a decapping hook at one side of and co-act-ing with one jaw and the other disk formed with a can-opening blade at one side of and coacting with the other jaw, the said disks also formed with stop shoulders to engage with the outer faces of the jaws,
The combination with two plier men bers connected together by a rivet, of a pair of disks mounted on said rivet between said members, one disk formed with a decapping hook at one side of and co-acting with one jaw and the other disk formed with a canopening blade at one side of and co-acting with the other jaw, the said disks also formed with stop shoulders to engage with the outer faces of the jaws, and extensions to engage with the handles of the pliers.
In testimony whereof, I have signed this specification.
OTTO VVILLMAN.
