Description

J. W. WILHELM Jan. 4 1927.
MEGAPHONE Filed March 17, 1924 Ill Patented Jan. 4, 1927.
UNITEDv STATES PATENT OFFICE.
JOHN WALTER WILHELM, OF ST. PETERSBURG, FLORIDA.
MEGAPHONE.
Application filed March 17,1924.
The invention relates to megaphones, and has for its object to provide a device of this character preferably formed from card board, and constructed in a manner whereby it may be collapsed into a flat condition when not in use, thereby allowing easy storage and shipment of the megaphone, and also allowing the megaphone to be used as a score card for advertising purposes.
A further object is to provide the megaphone with spaced slits, preferably adjacent the score card and forming a pencil holder.
A further object is to form the megaphone from a single sheet of cardboard having spaced scored lines on which the sheet will bend when forming the niegaphone, which megaphone is preferably rectangular shaped in vertical transverse cross section when in open position.
With the above and other objects in view the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts as hereinafter set forth, shown in the drawing, described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of the invention may be made within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention.
In the drawing: 1
Figure 1 is a perspective view of the megaphone, showing the same in open position.
Figure 2 is a top plan view of the n'iegaphone showing the same in collapsed position.
Figure 3 is a plan View of the blank from which the megaphone is formed.
Referring to the drawing, the numeral 1 designates the blank from which the mega ohone is formed, which blank is adapted to be folded on the scored line 2, to form the megaphone rectangular shaped in cross section. One side of the blank 2 is Provided with adhesive 3 adapted to secure said side Serial No. 699,785.
of the blank to the outer side 4 of the side 5 of the blank. The outer side of the blank 1 may have printed thereon advertising matter and a score card 6, whereby the person using the same may not only read the ad but keep score: of the game. Disposed adjacent the score card 6 are spaced slits 7, which form a member 8which' receives a pencil 9, therefore it will be seen that a pencil is maintained adjacent the score card 6' paper megaphone is provided, which maybe cheaply constructed, ntilied for advertising purposes and one formed from a single sheet of paper, preferably cardboard and eonstrIu-ted in a manner, whereby when collapsed forms a flat package, and when extended the megaphone is substantially rectangular shaped in vertical transverse cross section. The device may also be used as a fan when in collapsed condition.
The invention having been set forth what is claimed as new and useful is:-
A megaphone formed from a single sheet of cardboard, said n'iegaphonc being tapered, said megaphone being oblong shaped in transverse cross section, the side walls of said megaphone being wider than the other walls thereof, said last named walls being foldable onto the inner sides of the wide walls, said megaphone being foldable to a flat condition.
In testimony whereof I have signed my nam to this specification.
