This invention relates to improvements in draw I tables.
The objects of the invention are:
First, to provide an improved draw table in which the parts of the top are effectively maintained in separated relation while the leaves are being withdrawn or pushed in.
Second, to provide an improved sliding means for such structure.
Third, to provide an improved lock means for the parts.
Further objects, and objects relating to structural details will definitely appear from the detailed description to follow.
I accomplish the objects of my invention by the devicesand means described in the following specification. The invention is clearly defined and pointed out in the claims.
A structure which is a preferred embodiment of my invention isclearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings, forming a part of this specification, in which:

The numbered parts of the drawing will he considered by their numerals; are the side rails of the table. 2 are the corner posts. 3 are the end rails. 4 is the central cross bar between the side rails being notched at 5 near each end as seeninFig. VII.
6 is the table top. 7. is the central cross supporting cleat of the said tabletop. 8 are the fastening means for retaining the table top in central position. Each is provided with a downwardly extending arm 9 just within the corresponding side rail 1 having the longitudinal keyhole slot 10 through which extends the bolt 11 provided with a retaining nut 11" on its inner end as seen in detail in Figs. VIII and IX. A dowel pin 12 is secured to the top cross cleat near each end and projects down from the under side of the said cross cleat 'Z and engages a'djustably in' the hole 13 for partial withdrawal therefromin the side rail 1. These parts co-operate.. The dowel alone cannot be efiectively retained and the slotted arm with pin in slot will not play freely if made a close fit to guide the parts.

An automatic slidable support block 23 for the table top is disposed and slides in the recess 25 inthe upper side of each slide as seen in Figs VI and VII. 'This auxiliary slide block 23 is rounded at 24 on its inner end. A stop pin 27 is disposed to limit the inward movement of each block. A stop block 23 limits the outward movement.
A pin 230 in slot 231 in the block 23 guides and retains the same in the slot 25. A plunger 232 comprising a wire nail with a large head reacts against spring 233 disposed in the bore or socket 234 in the block 23 and shoots the auxiliary slide 23 out against the stop 27 whenever it is disengaged from the sliding parts.

In a draw table structure, the combination with the table framework of a top 99 the said draw leaves, having cutaway por tions on their upper sides at the inner ends to accommodate the central cleat and pro vided withlongitudinal ways in their upper surfaces at the beginning of the cutaway part, and notches on their upper sides in proxin'iity to the draw leaves to receive said contact buttons, a horizontally movable slide extension, having rounded upper end, disposed in the way in the top of each slide in proximity to the cutaway portion adapted to automatically retract when the leaves are fully drawn to permit the central cleat and table top to drop to position when the leaves are withdrawn, and hooked stops at the inner ends of said slides to engage said cross bar, 'coacting as specified.
3. ln-a draw table structure, the combi nation with the table framework of a top with central cross cleat thereunder, down-v wardly projecting contadt buttons disposed upon the under side of the central cross cleat in position to ride upon the upper sides of thedraw leaf slides, draw leaves adapted to be disposed underneath each end of the said table top, slides with inclined surfaces riding in notches in the table ends and secured to the said draw leaves, having cut-away portions on their upper sides at the inner ends to accommodate the central oleat and provided with longitudinal ways in their upper surfaces at the beginning of the cutaway part, and notches on their upper sides in proximity to the draw leaves to receive said contact buttons, a horizontally movable slide extension having rounded inner upper end disposed in the 'way in the top of each slide in proximity to the cutaway portion, adapted to automatically retract when the leaves are fully drawn to permit the central cleat and table top to drop to position when the leaves are with drawn, and spring means to hold said extension slide yieldingly in position, coacting as specified.

In a draw table structure, the combination with the table framework of a top with central cross cleat thereunder, downwardly projecting contact buttons disposed upon the upper side of the central cross cleat in position to ride upon the upper sides of the draw leaf slides, draw leaves adapted to be disposed underneath ,each end of the said table top, slides with inclined surfaces riding in notches in the table ends and secured to the said draw leaves, having cutaway portions on their upper sides at the inner ends to accommodate the central cleat and provided with longitudi-.
nal ways in their upper surfaces at the beginning of the cutaway part, and notches on their upper sides in proximity to the draw leaves to receive said contact buttons, and a horizontally movable slide extension hav ing rounded inner upper end disposed in the way in the top of each slide in proximity to the cutaway portion adapted to automatically retract when the leaves are fully drawn to permit the central cleat and table top to drop to position when the leaves are withdrawn, coacting as specified.

In a draw table structure, the combination with the table framework of a top with a central cross cleat thereunder, clownwardly projecting contact buttons disposed upon the under side of said CBIltIELl'CIOSS cleat in position to ride upon the upper sides of the draw leaf slides, draw leaves adapted to be disposed underneath each end of the said table top, slides with inclined surfaces riding in notches in the table ends and secured to the said draw leaves with cutaway portions on their upper sides at the inner ends to accommodate the central cross cleat, and provided with longitudinal.
