Description

Nov. 16,1926; 1,607,544
I F. A. M CREADY COPYHOLDER Filed August 26, 1926 gwuantoz Patented Nov. 16, 1926.
FRANCES A. MCCREADY OF WASHINGTON, DISTRICT OF COLUMBIA.
oorYHoLDEn.
Application filed August 26, 1926.
This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in copy holders, the object being to provide a copy holder in the form of a strip which can be readily placed- 5 in position over a sheet of typewriting or printed matter so as to expose only one line of printed matter or typewriting to facilitate the copying of the same.
Another object of the invention is to provide a copy holder with, guiding means for the sheet of printed matter to be copied so that the guide will be held in position on the sheet of paper in such a manner that it can be readily moved by the-typist as she copies the printed matter or typewriting a line at a time.
Other and further objects and advantages of the invention will be hereinafter set forth and the novel features thereof defined by the appended claims.
In the drawings,
Figure 1 is a top plan view of my improved construction of copy holders showing the same in position;
Figure 2 is a section through the same; and
Figure 3 is a perspective view of the holder detached.
In carrying out my invention I employ a an strip 1 formed of any suitable material such as cardboard, aluminum, celluloid or any other suitable material, said strip having a longitudinal slot 2 formed therein forming a sight opening through which a single line of the printed matter or typewriting will be exposed when the strip is in position on the sheet of paper of typewriting or printed matter whereby the same can be copied by the typist with accuracy without undue 40. strain on the eyes.
At each end of the slot 2 I provide the strip with tongues 3 which are adapted to extend under the sheet of paper containing the printed matter so as to hold and guide the strip as it is moved by the typist, these tongues being so formed that they will receive sheets of paper of different widths.
Serial No. 131,716.
In constructing the holder as shown, 1 preferably r'orm parallel cuts in the body of the strip and then cut the central portion away so as to leave the flexible tongues at each end, said tongues extending towards each other and in such a relation to the body of the strip that the holder can be readily slipped into position on the sheet of paper containing the printed matter to be copied.
lVhile I have shown certain means oi producing a holder constructed in accordance with my invention, of course, I do not wish to limit myself to the details of construction and method of producing the same as my invention consists broadly in producing a copy iolder with a sight opening so as to expose only a single line of the printed matter or typewriting in connection with the guiding means for holding and guiding the copy holder in pdsition on the strip as it is moved step by step down over the same and I am, of course, aware that the holder could be moved over the strip of paper or the strip of paper can be moved by the typist through the holder.
Vhat I claim is 1. A copy holder having an elongated sight opening formed therein, tongues arranged adjacent each end of said holder for guiding said holder over the strip of printed matter or typewriting to be copied.
2. A copy holder comprising an oblong strip of material having a longitudinal slot formed therein provided with tongues for holding and guiding the holder as it is moved over a sheet of printed matter or typewriting to be copied.
