. warren stares means FRIDOLIN SCHIMMEL, OF FARIBAULT, MINNESOTA.
RADIOSTAND.
Application filed January 15, 1926. Serial No. 81,421.
My present invention has for its object to provide an extremely simple and highly efficient radio stand, and to this end, it consists of the novel devices and combinations of devices hereinafter described and defined in the claims.
In the accompanying drawings, which illustrate the invention, like characters indicate like parts throughout the several views.
Referring to the drawings: 1
Fig. 1 is a perspective View of the radio stand;
Fig. 2 is a front elevation of the same;
Fig. 3 is a horizontal section taken on the line 33 of Fig. 2; and
Fig. 4 is a detail view principally in horizontal section, taken on the line 4.--4 of Fig. 1, on an enlarged scale.
The improved radio stand comprises a top member 5, a bottom member 6, end members 7 an intermediate partition 8, and supporting legs 9. Said top member 5 is supported from the bottom member 6 by the'end members 7 and partition 8, and which partition extends between the end members 7 and top and bottom members 5 and 6, respectively, and is intermediately located to divide the stand into open front and rear compartments 10 and 11, respectively. The bottom member 6, forward of the intermediate partition 8, is cut away at 12 to leave knee room for an operator sitting in front of the cabinet.
The top member 5 afiords ample space for supporting a radio cabinet thereon, and the compartment 11 afiords suitable storage space for radio batteries. In connection with the above described radio stand, I provide a stand or pedestal for a loud speaker used in connection with a radio supported on said stand, which is made the subject-matter of a copending application executed of even date herewith.
The supporting legs 9 are detachably secured to the bottom member 6 by couplings of the type disclosed and broadly claimed in my United States Letters Patent No. 1,292,090, entitled Leg coupling, issued January 21, 1919. Each leg coupling comprises a bracket 13 secured to the under side of the bottom member 6 at one of the corners thereof and having an entrance passageway 14 with a contracted lock notch, a headed stud 15 in the form of a screw secured to the respective leg 9 and inserted through a passageway 14 and interlocked with the lock notch thereof, and a lock screw 16 having threaded engagement with the bracket 13 and extending in the path of movement of. the headed stud 15 to hold the same in said lock notch. By loosening the screws 16, the legs 9 may be easily detached from the stand to reduce the stand to compact form for shipping and storage.
The above described device has been put into actual commercial use and has proven highly efiicient for the purpose had in View.
l Vhat I claim is: I
1. A radio stand comprising top and bottom members and end members therebetween, an intermediate partition between said end members dividing the stand into front and rear compartments, the latter. of which affords battery storage space, and supporting legs for the stand, said front compartment being open and said bottom member, forward of said partition, being cut away to leave knee space.
' 2. The structure defined claim 1 in which said rear compartment is open.
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
FRIDOLIN SCHIMMEL.
