Patented Get. 26, 1926.
UNlTED STATES GEORGE M. MILLER, OF ST. LOUIS PARK, MINNESOTA.
TOY.
Application filed April 6, 1925.
This invention relates to toys for children and the main object is to provide a practical, novel, and highly instructive device in the form of a miniature refinery or distillery, the same being provided with a siphon tube, whereby the child may be instructed in and become familiar with the principle of operation of the siphon, and whereby said tube will drain the tank or receptacle of the device in simulation of the tube or coil which in actual practice take off the vapors and steams of the actual refinery. Further objects will be disclosed in the course of the following specification, reference being had to the accompanying drawing, wherein;
Figure 1 is a persoective View of the toy.
Figure 2 is a cross section elevation as seen substantially on the irregular line 2-2 in Figure 1.
Referring to the drawing by reference character 3 designates a cylindrical sheet metal receptacle, the same being supported in a horizontal position by a hollow sheet metal base l. This base is suitably colored and delineated to represent the brick work of furnace walls, and is also provided, at its front end, with pressed out portions which are printed or painted to represent furnace doors 5. The rear end of the base or furnace portion is provided with a smoke stack or flue 6.
The receptacle 3 is provided with one or more filler necks 7, having caps 8, one of which may be provided with a small perforation 9, for the admission of air to the receptacle when the contents arebeing drained oil by the siphon tube, designated as 10.
Serial No. 21,245.
T his tube extends from near the bottom of the receptacle, up through the top thereof,
and then down to a point below the level 49 of its bottom. After the siphon has been filled or partly filled with water the siphonmay be started by merely tilting the de vice forward unt l the tube is filled. The
flow will then continue until the entire contents of the can are drained oil. It is also obvious that the stream may be interrupted, stopped, and started by opening and closing the air port 9 with the finger.
it is understood that various modifications may be made in the general design and structural details of the invention as herein illustrated and described, providing, however, that such modifications come within the spirit and scope of the appended claim.
Having now, therefore, fully shown and described my invention, what I claim to be new and desire to protect by Letters Patent 15:
In a toy of the character described, a
a sheet metal inclosure having an inwardly projecting flange, the inner edge of which meets and is joined with the receptacle, the ntire toy representing a diminutive refinery and being of such small size that it may readily be tilted to start the siphonic action in the tube.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
GEORGE M. MILLER.
