MEMORANDUM CALENDAR.

Application filed Januar `My invention relates to memorandum calendars, and it relates more particularly to a`calendar which is so constructed and arranged as to receive and support memorandum slips or cards at desired specific dates.

The object of my invention is to provide a memorandum calendar which will be simple in arrangement and inexpensive in construction, on which the various days are designated in such manner as to require a minimum of space commensurate with the particular use of the calendar, and a further object of my invention is to provide in such a calendar, in connection with the spaces provided for the various days of the year,

- elongated slots in the front or face member of the calendar structure, which slots are adapted to receive slips of paper or cards upon which notations are made for the purpose of informing the userv of various matters to be attended to upon specific dates.

The nature and characteristic features of my invention will be more readily understood from the following descriptiomtaken in connection `with the laccompanying drawings forming part hereof, in which:

Figure 1 is a front elevation of a memorandum calendar embodying the main features of my present invention;

Fig. 3 is a vertical section of the portion of the structure shown in Fig. 2;

Fig. 4 is a view similar to Fig. 3, but illust-rating a modified form of construction, this form being particularly adapted for use when the structure is made of sheet metal; V

Fig. 6 is a perspective view of a specimen memorandum slip adapted to be used with the calendar.

Referring now more particularly to Figs. 1 to 3 of the drawings, in the particular embodiment of my invention therein shown, 6 is a sheet of suitable material, such as cardboard, sheet metal, Celluloid or the like. The face of the sheet 6 has the calendar proper printed thereon, the same being divided by vertical lines 7 into a series of columns, preferably thirteen in number, and further subdivided by means of horizontal lines 8 into thirty-two rows of spaces. is designated by the proper numerals (1925), and successively in the spaces below the same in said central column areV displayed the numerals 1 to 31, to represent the days of the several months.

1n rthe other spaces of the top row are designated the variousmonths of the year (dan, Feb., Mar., etc), and in the spaces in each vertical column the day of the week corresponding t the particular date is designated (Sun, Mon., Tue., etc). Likewise, if desired, in each of the spaces provided for specified date there may be provided the proper numeral for designating the total elapsed days of the year.

ln each of the spaces provided for each day of the year there is provided an elongated slot 9, which is adapted to receive a memorandum slip 10. which may be afolded piece of paper (see Fig. 6) or a card, upon which notations may be made Vto inform the user of various matters to be attended to upon a particular date, it, of course, being understood that the memorandum slip 10 is inserted in the slot 9 corresponding to such date.

In order that the memorandum slips or cards may be inserted without crowding each other, or unduly obscuring the face of the sheet, the sheet 6 is preferably secured at its marginal edges to a framework 11, which serves to hold the sheet 6 away from the surface of the wall orother suport upon which the calendar is hung or mounted.

if desired, the back of the structure may be closed by means of a sheet 12, which may also be secured to the framework 11, and for the purpose of hangingthe device upon the wall or vother support, the sheet 12 at the rear of the device may be provided with tabs 13 extending upward above the top member of the framework and having eyes 14 for mounting the structure upon nails or hooks.

When the device is made of sheet metal, the equivalent of the marginal framework may be provided, as shown in Figs. 4 and 5, by bending the metal of the structure over at the top and sides and thence inward asv at 15 (see Fig. 5) a sufficient distance to form an adequatesuport, and likewise the tab portions 13 may beprovided by suitably bending a portion of the sheet metal upward, as shown in Fig. 4 of the drawings. lt will be seen that by the foregoing arrangement there is provided a memorandum calendar, vvhich may be inexpensively constructed, in which nieinoranduni slips or cards may be so inserted as to attract the attention of the user to a specified date, and ivhich is characterized by being' of minimum size for its intended purpose. Furthermore, the spaces t'or the various dates Will not be unduly obscured by the inserted memorandum slips.

It ivill be found in practice that a calendar o1" the peculiar construction and arrangement ot the present invention ivill be nse'lul in inany respects; for example, suppose that a note be given on Febr ary 17, 1925, payable 9i) days a'ttei date. A meniorandum slip is taken and the proper notation made thereon, and ret'erence is `then made to the calendar, and it is found that, at the end ot that day, #i8 days ivill have elapsed since the lirst ot the year. By simple addition oi 90 to this figure, and turther reference to the calender, one finds that the 138th day ot the year lalls on May 1S, 1925, ivhereupon the memorandum slip with the notation ot the note becoming;` due is inserted in the slot correspondinp` to that day.

It ivill, ot' course, be understood that additional space may be provided upon the lace ot the calendar 'tor advertising matter, as in many instances it may be found desirable to use the device ot' my present invention ior advertising purposes, and 'this may be done without departing` trom the spirit ol my invention.

Havingthus described the nature and characteristic features ot my invention, what l claim as neviv and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
