PATENT OFFICE.
ERNEST D. ANDERSON, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
COMB.
Application filed January 24, 1928. Serial No. 249,061.
The present invention relates to improvements in combs, and has for its object the provision of a simple means for readily parting the hair.
The manner in which this is accomplished will more clearly appear from the-following description of two embodiments of the invention, illustrated in Figs. 1 and 2 of the drawings. I
Referring to Fig. 1, the comb 1 is provided with a central wedge-shaped tooth 2 having a base of relatively great width, and two groups of finer teeth 3 and 4 on both sides of the wedge 2. The teeth within each group are 1 parallel, but the free ends of the teeth or" the two groups 3 and 4'converge towards each other. The teeth 3 and 4 are parallel with the respective sides of wedge 2.
hen the teeth of the comb are pulled through the hair, the hair parted by the wedge will be guided by the teeth 3 and 4 to lie in parted condition.
In the embodiment illustrated in Fig. 2, the wedge 2 is shown as having convex sides and the teeth 3 and 4: are bent to lie parallel with the sides of the Wedge.
It will be obvious to those skilled in the art that the comb may be made of metal, hard rubber or any other substance suitable for the purpose, and that the parting wedge 2 need not be centrally located with respect to the other teeth.
What I claim is:
1. In a comb,a tooth for parting the hair, and teeth on both sides of said tooth slanting away from the tip of said parting tooth for guiding in normal use the hair away from the part.
2. In a comb, a group of teeth, a second group of teeth with their free ends converging towards the first group, and a hair-parting tooth between the two groups.
3. In a comb, two groups of teeth with their free ends converging towards each other, and a substantially wedge-shaped 4 tooth between said groups.
4. In a comb, a wedge-shaped hair parting tooth, and a plurality of teeth on both sides of said tooth and projecting in parallel with the sides thereof.
In testimony whereof, I have signed my name to this specification this 20th day of January 1928. ERNEST D. ANDERSON.
