Other objects and desirable features of my. invention will be hereinaiiterpointed out. i My invention is applicable to stoker'arches and ignition arches, such as are used in boilers and various other kinds of apparatus operated by fuel, and it is also applicable to the roofs and walls of annealing ovens, tube stills orf-cracking stills, such as are `used in the oil industry, and in fact, to any kind fof a combustion chamber-in which a high temperature is maintained. a

In my improved roof, arch or wall theelements that' constitute the active faceof the structure are not permanently mounted upon or immovably connected to a-v supporting structure, as is now the usual custom, but instead, said elements are mounted on a supporting structure in such a manner that they can be adjusted independently oi each other,y either to cause the active faces of said elements to align or extend flush with each other, or to permit any one oli' said elements to be removed or replaced without disturbing` the adjacent elements. Vhen my invention is embodied in a Stoker, arch or ignition arch, or in a roof `for a combustion chamber, the elements that mal-:e up the arch or root will be formed either of solid blocks of refractory material, or blocks provided with renewable face portions, andl will vbe suspended from `an overhead supporting structure by a means that can be adjusted so as to raise or lower said blocks independently of eachother and thus cause thev bot- Vrstruction is desirable, inthat'it tom faces-oit saidvblocks to extend` flush,1r
