CORPORATION OE DELAWARE. l
PATET i Y (jliulgfy HosIEnY-:DRYING FORM.
Application led July 2,
My invention relates to an improvement in` hosiery drying forms and more particuarly to hosiery drying forms of the type Which are adapted to be interiorly heated.
In the drying of hosiery on hosiery drying forms, and more particularly in the case of full fashioned hosiery, considerable dilliculty is met With'on account ofthe seam which extends down the back of the hose. In the use of the ordinary hosiery drying form it is necessary to align the seam with an edge ofthe form, which requires extra care on the .part of the operator and Wastes time, and the seam acts to space the body of the hose adjacent the lseam away from the surface of the form, Which results in uneven drying, and also to prevent the edge of the form adjacent to Which the seam lies from eectively creasing the hose.
Heretofore it has been suggested to provide a seam receiving groove in hosiery drying forms positioned in or near the edge of the form, however,` forms provided Withsuch grooves have not proved entirely satisfactory. Such forms having a groove in the edge are ineffective for creasing the hose and those having a groove adjacent to the edgek are disadvantageous, since a different set of forms are required to provide rights and lefts.
Now it is the object of my invention to provide a hosiery drying form so constructed as to effectively dry and crease seamed hosiery, as full fashioned hosiery, the form according to my invention being so constructed as to accommodate both rights and lefts and to desirably crease the hose with relation to the seam.
Having now indicated, in a general Way. the nature and purpose of my invention, I will proceed to a' detailed description thereof with reference to the accompanying drawings in which therel is illustrated a preferred embodiment and in Which:- j
Fig. l is a side view of a form embodying` my invention.

members are spaced apart between their edges by means of a spacer c, which extendsv from the base b to a point near the toe of i the form and racts as a partition toy divide the form and enable the circulation of steam therethrough. i
Between the edges of the side members at the rear of the form is inserted a relatively thin strip d, of metal, which is secured in place by Welding to the edges of the side member. Thestrip al extends from near the base Z) to the bottomm of the foot and is of a Width such that it extends beyond the edges of the side members and into the in? terior of the form, as shovvn in Fig. 3.
If desired, a Wire e, of substantially circular cross section, may be substituted for the strip d. The Wire e is inserted between the edges of the side members to Which it is secured by Welding. The Wire extends from the base b to the bottom a;I of the foot, projects beyond the edges of the side members and has a' portion of its surface eX- posed to the interior of theform.
In operation When a stocking is placed on a form embodying my invention, for eX- ample, as illustrated in Figs. l-S, and which is mounted and supplied with steam in the usual manner, the seam may be readily placed to the right or left of the strip al, the opposite side surfaces of -Which form vvith the opposite side members of the form v pockets for the reception of the seam. Thus the stocking may be readily aligned on the form2 alignment being effected by merely twisting a stocking on the form laterallyand the side surfaces as -Well as the outer edge of the strip a'. Will act to dry that portion of the stocking engaged therewith, since the strip Z as a Whole Will be heated by conductivity from that part of the strip Withiny the .form and ivhichis exposed to the steam utilized to heat the form as a Whole.-
The operation of a form embodying the modification of my invention illustrated in` trantedy in Figs. "1-3.
