Y Thisinvention relates to an improved butter churn especially constructed for use in association with a clothes washing machine.
More specifically stated, the invention 1S characterized by a churn having a rotary adapter plate provided with a power take-01f coupling designed to fit upon a gyrator shaft in the tub or casing of a conventional type i of clothes washing machine.
The principal purpose is to utilize the motive power of a household clothes washing machine to actuate 'a butter churn, by con- 1 structing the butter churn to function as a substitute for the usual gyrator.
The particular features and relative association and arrangement of details will become more readily apparent from the following description and drawings.
In the drawings;
Figure 1 is a view in section and elevation showing a known type of clothes washing machine, having the gyrator removed and the improved butter churn substituted therefor.

Considering now the specific details and re ferring to them by numerals and particularl to Figure 1, it will be observed that it ilustrates conventional or known types of clothes washing machine, which includes a supporting leg structure 9, a tub 10, wringer 11, and an electric motor drive for the gymtor (not shown).
This drive embodies an electric motor 12, a power belt 13, having an operating connection with a crank shaft 14, which in turn has operating connection with a reciprocatory pitman or rack bar 15. The pitman has operating connection with the pinion 16, on the gyrator shaft 17, journaled in a bearing in the bottom of the tub or casing 10. The shaft 17 is provided with a key which has separable connection with a coupling on the bottom of the gyrator (not shown).
As before stated, the gist of the invention is predicated upon the idea and means whereby the gyrator can be removed and an improved butter churn substituted therefor to receive its power from the electric motive power of the washing machine.
' In Figure 1, the churn is generally designated by the reference character 18, where it is shown having operating connection with the shaft 17. Referring to Figure 2, it will be seen that the churn comprises an open top cylindrical container 19, whose base 20 is equipped with marginal dependingsupporting legs 21, and a centralsocket 22. The legs 21 are disposed withinthe upstanding annular rim 23, carried by a disc like adaptor; plate 24. On the center of the bottom side of the adapter plate is a depending coupling and driving sockets 25, having a keyway 26. Obviously, this coupling 25 corresponds in construction with a similar coupling such as is found at the bottom of the gyrator. Hence it is simply slipped down over the key equipped shaft 17 as shown in Figure 1. The marginal portion of the adaptor plate is formed with elongated slots 27 accommodating the headed lower ends of the retaining rods 28. The upper ends of these rods are releasably connected by thumb nuts 29 with the bifurcated portions of retaining brackets 30, on the container.
The cover for the container comprises a pair of half sections 31 and 32, of appropriate construction, having external handles or knobs 33. A special fitting 34 is carried by the section 32. This comprises a polygonal shaft pocket 35, and spaced attaching arms 36. The meeting edges of the sections 31 and 32 are notched to accommodate the sockets 35, and this arrangement allows the sections 31 to be removed while the section 32 is in place as shown in Figure 2.
Located within the container 19 is a cream dasher. This embodies a shaft whose upper end portion 37 fits into the socket 35, and whose lower end portion 38 fits into the aforesaid socket 22 in the base. Mounted on the shaft is a hub 29 carrying twisted horizontal blades 40 and upper and lower radial arms 41, provided with retaining channels 42 for vertical blades 43.
In practice, the container with the dasher therein and the covering plate is assembled on the adapter plate as shown in Figure 2, and the clamping bolts 28 are put in the positionhere shown to maintain the parts assembled. Then the complete device is ready for insertion in the tub 10, to'take the place of the gyrator which has now been removed. The churn is simply coupled to the gyrator shaft 17 and the motor set into operation, whereby to actuate the churn and to permit the rapid making of cream into butter.
It is thought that the advantage, construc-' terials coming within the field of invention claimed maybe resorted to, in actual practice,'if desired.
