NURSING-BTTLE HOLDER.
Application filed August 4, 1926. Serial No. 121054;
This invention reletes to nov nd useful rovements in V holders or supports for s ng hotties when in use and hes for its primery object to provide e holder Whereby the bettle is supported in e properly tlted position when the baby is within e oerrage' or erib so that the contents thereof may be readily taken by the chldwithout requiring the holding of the bottle by the mother, nu'semaid, or other attendent.
A further object of the invention resides in the provision of a holder of thischerecter that is constructed for ready association With the conventional desgns oi"? nursing bottles and one' that may as-reedily be removed therefrom.
A further and impor'unt ,object is to provide& holder consisting of means disposition upon the bottle well 'as means Whereby the bottle may be Suspended from the Crib or carriage, seid means being cooperatively construeted so that the. bottle 'will not become disengaged from the holder when the same is in use.
Other objeets Will become ,epperent es the nature of the invention is better understood, the same eompfiising the novel form, oombination, and arrengement of parte here inefter more fully described, shown in the aocompanying drawing and claimed.
In the drawings herein like numerels indi- Cate like parte. y i r Figure 1 is :i side elevetion of a nursing the present invention, the same being disclosed as actually in use. i I
Figure 2 is a' longiuudinal section taken substantialiy upon the line 2-2 of Figura, 1 for diselosingin top plan the means with which the bottle is directly associated.
Figure 3 isa View in side elevation disolosing the elements that are directly attached to the bottle in the :Let of being ap plied to or removed therefrom, and
Figures l and 5 are perspective views of the members Construeted for disposition upon the bottle.
Now having particular reference to the drawing, my novel nursing bottle holder constitutes the p'ovision of e pair of Wirc treme members designated generelly by the i side of the loop single length of steel wi'e so bent as to provide' a relatively oval sheped loop 7 at one end of the framefor engagement over theneek of the bottle A and a large oval sheped loop 8 at the opposite ,end of the treme for engegement around thebody of the bottle A, the Wire forming the frame member 5 s ooiled as at 9 and 10 so as to provide e spacing means between the loops and 8 et opposite sides thei-cof.
: The wire forming the frame member is so bent at one side of the loop 8 as to provide a penof letera l eyes 11-11 within which' the ends of the sti-and of Wire that extend from the adjaeent ends or' the coil'9 ere arranged es clearly disolosed inFigure t. ntermediate these eyes 11-11 is a ve t eally extending eye 12 for a purpose here- .matter more fully described. r
As more 'clearly chsolosed m Fg ures 1 and 3, the lower oonneeting coil 10 between the loops 7 and 9 is shghtly shorter than the length of the upper eonnecting eoil 9,"
so thet the body loop 8 will extend diagonally with respect tothe transverse tLXlS of "the bottle when this treme member 5 is disposed thereon. The length of the treme member 5 is such that the loop S will be positoned uponthe body of the bot-tle real'- ward-ly of the center thereof so that the bottle will be supported in :in inclined manv resr end and thence forwa'dly over the top side of the bottle as clearlyiindeated ,in
Figure 1. The ends of the wire are then e disposed diagonallyoutwardly as at 18-18 and are seoured within spaced reerwardly extending eyes 19-19 formed in the top 13. In this instance also the eoil portion of the wire at the bottom side of the freme is shorter than the entire' area, of the wire at the top side of the frame so that the loop 13 will be positoned diagonally with respect' to the transverse axis of the bottle A, as shown in Figu-e's 1, 3 and 5. Intermedate the eyes 19-19 of the loop 13, the wre formng the same s so nent as to provide a vertieelly extending eye 20.
'one end of e coil spring 2%. To the opposite end of this coil spring is ettached e chain length 25 to whicl is slidably seeured e hook 26 that is preferably construeted for engagement within the Wicker material of cerriage tops or upon a cross wre stretched 'between the upper side rails ete crb es suggested in Figure l. i
In order to position the treme members 5 and 6 upon the bottle A it is necessary that the link 22 be moved to the horizontal position es diselosed in Figure 3, etter which the treme members may be separated. The iframe member 5 is then errenged upon the forward portion of the bottle efter which the treme member 6 is disposed over the reer end of the bottle. The link 22 is now swung upwerdly and due to its shape will ceuse the freme members to be drewn toward each other and when the hook 26 is disposed upon the crib rails or cerriuge structural bar, the weight or the' bottle as well as the treme members will prevent the link from turnng and consequently the treme members will i not separate to permit the bottle to disengege therei'rom.
E have previously stated that the hook 26 is slidablyattached to the chain length 25. This is for the purpose of permitting the .length ot the hanger unit to be adjus ed at will After the ,proper edjustment of the hookwith respect to thechain length a hook 2? upon the end of the chain length is engeged within one of the'lengths of the Cham 'so es to prevent the sliding of the henger hook 26 with respect thereto Whenthe bottle is supported in hanging reletionwith the erib or cerriage. v
By closely inspecting` Figure l of the drawings it will be reedily appreciated that the length of the 'treme members 5 and 6 is such that when the bottle is supported in hengin; relation, the same 'will be meintained in the properly tilted position for use so that the contents thereof may be readly taken by the child without requir'ng the holding of the same as stated of the invention. i i v Even though I have herein shown and described the invention as consisting of 'certain struetural elements, and of a prefereble' formaton, it is nevertheless' to be understood that seid structural elements es well esthe `ormation thereot may be changed to-some ez tent without affecting the spirit and scope of the appended elaims.
Having thus described the I claim as new end desire to secure by Letters Patent is r I l. n a holder for nursing bottles, &pair ot separate treme members eonstrueted for disposition upon the bottle at opposte ende thei-ed: eye members et the inner ends of said independent geted link independent of the bers and sldable through' the aforementioned eyes for drawing the' frame members' together toward' each other 'upon the bottie when the link lS swung to a position et right angles with respect to its lntial position, and
means associeted with one end o'' the link the suspension of the bottle 'for feeilitatinfi from a support. r
2. in e holder for nursing bottles, e pair in the obj eets invention, what i ..LL &1118 memtreme members, 111 elone of separate treme members eonstrueted 'or disposition upon the bottle et the opposite ends thereof each of sa d treme members being eomposed of e single strandofwire `so bent as to provide a, loop at the inner end of each frame, the outer end of each treme being so constructed as to fit` over the neek and rear end of the bottle respeetively, the
looped inner opposed ends of the treme be ing disposed around the intermediate portion of the bottle, an eye member formed on the top o' the inner end of each treme, a' link` slidable through the inner opposed eye members and edepted to move the frames toward each other on 'the bottle when swung n a position at right engl'e'sto its initiel position and means connected to the link for suspending 'the bottle and the holder from e support.
In testimony whereof I atX my signature.
MAURICE S. SULLIVAN.
