and l Figure 4 is a perspective VIEW of the front ortion of one of the forceps members The forceps com rise elongated straight jaws 1 and 2 which ave their rear end portions reversely bent and connected by a pivot 3. Handles 4 and 5 extend rearwardly from the jaws 1 and 2, respectively, and they are rovided with hooked rear terminals 6 and respectively, which are adapted to prevent the handles from slipping from the hands. The jaws 1 and 2 are provided at their front ends with oppositely extending and rearwardi ly curved beaks Sand 9, res ctively. Each of the beaks 8 and 9' has a at inner lateral face 10 and a convex outer lateral face 11. The, inner faces 10 arerevers'ely inclined and contact when the jaws 1 and 2 are closed- The beaks 8 and 9 do not project laterally beyond the aws land 2, and when closed provide the forceps with a rounded front end. The jaws 1 and 2 are of circular formation in cross section, and are provided at their front ends will inner shoulders 12 directly in advance of which the freeterminals of the beaks 8 and 9 are positioned when the jaws are closed.

In practice, the forceps are inserted intothe vagina with the ' aws 1 and 2 in closed relation. After the orceps are inserted into the vagina, the jaws 1 and 2 are opened and engaged with a leg or nose of the pig in a man- Figure 3is a front end view of the forceps,

As the jaws 1 and 2 are circular in cross section, as the beaks 8 and 9 present the closed forceps with a rounded front end, as the beaks do not project laterally beyond the jaws, and as the beaks are arranged in overlapped relation when the aws are closed, the forceps may be readily inserted into the vagina without danger of injury thereof.

A forceps comprising a pair of pivotally connected jaws provided at their front ends with shoulders and beaks, the beak of one jaw extending therefrom in the direction of the other jaw, and the beaks curving rearends of the jaws, and reversely and rearwardly curved beaks carried by the front ends of the j aws the beaks being adapted to overlap when in closed relation and provided with reversely inclined fiat inner faces and with convex outer lateral faces, the beaks being arranged wholly within the planes of the lateral sides of the j aws, and the jaws being provided with shoulders opposite the free ends of the beaks.
