" f GERMANY. vf i x .REVOLVING-RI'NG OVENy Application med June 2, 1926,:seria1 No. 113,289, and n esi-many. June 3,' 1925..`
The arrangement ot revolvingringovens such as are used for the drying and the `dry distillation ot granular or pulverulentinaterials is generally known. in substance such ovens generally comprise a ring shapedmutlle built up of refractory stone within ywhich is arranged tor rotationa rotary ring which acts as a hearthr and receives the material to be treated. i 1
The object ot" the invention is to provide a novel arrangeinent'ot' such a furnace, which presents material advantages over previously known arrangements. The aim is .to build the oven in all its essential parts of iron, thereby effecting considerable economy both in cost and labour as compared with the usual. stone ovens, and at the same time facilitating the erection an d dismantling ot such ovens so as to enable the sameto be readily moved tromplace to place without much trouble and substantial foundations. y
In order to attain `this object according to this invention,'theA whole oven is construct-ed as a suspension oven. `Accordingly the annular mu'llle is suspended trom a carrier.
`iframe ot' the simplest type. rlhe revolving' 'ring hearth closing the lower opening of the mullie is carried by a carousel-like rotary support, the etlect of all this being that an oven of this kind may be constructed at extremely small cost, and can be quickly assembled and disassembled. y
The 'foundation comprises merely appropriate foundation blocks forming the'supports for the carrier trame and forv the ournal of the carousel, which latter as a'rule, is constructed in the form of a so-called king lf the ring hearth isV to be provided with heating from below, this can be easily effected by equipping the ring with a channel shaped cavity to which the heating agent is supplied from the centre ot the oven by way ot a swinging pipe. In order to enable the condensate separate from theheating medium to be removed, use is made, according to the invention, ot a stationary ring shaped trapping trough revolving below the ring and in which are discharging sockets for the condensate. The oven cover. according to this invention, is made by preference with double walls of iron with the interposition of an insulating layer between the walls. An oven cover of this kind is cheap and yet fully capable of replacing y l y A constructional form of theinvention is diz-igrammatically illustrated by way `ot exa bricked arching. f`
ample in the annexed drawing Vin.` sectional elevation.
The oven comprises a suspension frameA composed (it-simple girders and provided with supporting arms a which, rest onsupports rb which are anchoredin f foundation blocks c. Suspended from eachlcarrier arm at a suitable. distance are two bolts CZ, krand suspended from these is the ri walled'cover e, e connected to which in downward directionare lateral cheeks f, f. Between the walls er, 'e' 1s a space whichis illed with insulatingmaterial g. Arranged at a suitable point in the coveris anoutlet 7L. y rihe downwardly openmuliie is close against the revolving ring Z which rests on a carousel-like support Ther latter comprises a, socalledlking pin z' arms 7c onthe ends of which the ring hearth Z is carried. The rotation ot therking pin z' is etlected by a gear ofthe usual kind, for example, a worm gear The ring hearth Z iasits top rface provided with a cavitated surface 'Il' for the reception of a thin layerof the charge. Itis constructed as ahollow body so as toprovide a channel shaped heating chamber av which laterally may be confined 4by insulating layers n', n. The lateral cheeks f, fV of the inutile are by preference trough Y shapedto form coolingtroughs which receive lateral ribs 0 of the ring Z. kThe sealingwlthin these troughs is effectedby sand or a cooling liquid.
-The admission ofthe heating `agent,'for example` steam to the heating chamber n, is ellected by a swing pipe 7) which revolves with Vthe ring l, and by preference may be jourary trough#l is arranged beneath the ring revolving in which are discharge pipes s leading from the heating chamber n.
provided with radial;`
y shapedcven 4H. inutile E. LThe latter consistsfoi' adouble Having new particularly described and ascertained the nature of our said invention and in what manner the same is to be performed, we declare that what we claiin is l. In a rotary ring hearth oven, a stationary supporting` structure, a'ring shaped mufie suspended therefrom and havingfan'` open underside, av hearth rotata le relative to said muflle and forming,l aclosure for its underside, said hearth having` a heating chamber beneath theV saine,` a rotary support for said hearth rotating about a center concentric to said mutile, a pipe for supplyinpjja heating j medium to said chamber rotatably supported by said stationary supporting` structure and movable about a'center coincident 'with the center of rotation of said rotary support, oththerefrom and including a cover consist-ing of n .spaced metallic walls, ay heat insulating` medium between said walls, arotating hearth supported for rotation below said muttle, and means for rotating said hearth.
' In a rotary ring hearth oven` a support-Vr ing structure, an oven body including' a ringrshaped inutile constituted by a cover and'side Vmembers depending therefrom, means for suspending said cover and lside members entirely from said supporting` structure, a rotatingl hearth supported forrotation below said muiile and between said side members, and
means for rotatingsaidhearth.
4;. In a rotary ring hearth oven7 a support--k ing structure, an oven body including a ringshaped muftle constituted by arcover and side members depending,` therefrom, 'means for c suspending-Said cover and side members entirely from said supporting structure, a ro-` tating hearth supported for (rotation below said mufle and between said side members, a
supporting member forsaid hearth extending inwardly-therefrom in a. radial directionto a point coincident with the cent-er of rotation of said hearth, avpivot aboutwhicli said sup-` porting,` member revolves, and means to revolve said hearth-supportingsmember.A
5. In a rotary ringhearth'oven, a supportingstructnre, an oven bodyincluding` a rinhshaped inutile constituted by a cover and eine members depending therefrom, ineansfor suspending said cover and sidemember-s entirely from said supporting structure, a rotating hearth supported for rotation below saidfmuflie and between said side 'ifneinbersh 'said hearth having a heating` chamber bec neath the same, a sup'iortingvmember for said hearth. extending inwardly therefrom in a radial direction to a' point coincident with `the center of rotation of said hearth, va pivot y about which said supporting member revolves, means to revolve said hearth-supporting member, 'and a pipevfor supplying' a heating medium to said chamber,l said pipe having-oneend rotatably mounted inV said supporting` .structure above said pivot and being n movablewith said rotatable 'supporting member.
ln testimony whereof we have signed our rnames to this specification.
