GAS-SAVING DEVICE.
Application filed January 25, 1927. Serial No. 163,330.
This invention relates to gas saving devices and has for its object to provide a contrivance, which will not only'reduce the quantity of gas consumed, but at the same time considerably minimize the time usually required under equal circumstances to reach a certain degree of heat, or the boilingpoint.
Another object of my invention is to produce an article that is simple in construction, inexpensive to manufacture, and very easy to apply, thereby admitting the great public to the benefit of this combined gassavingi system.
It is to be understood that the invention, which will be hereinafter technically described, constitute a further improvement of a somewhat similar device, for which the U. S. Patent has been issued to me under No. 1,557,249.
One of such further improvements consists in constructing my device in such a. manner that a great latitude is attained as to the scope of regulations and adjustments, suitable to conditions at hand; another great advantage of this my last invention is, that it may be attached, or screwed, directly on to the gas cook.
A still further advantage of my system lies in, that it'provides an automatically adjusted mixture of the gas and air in such proportions that it will eliminate backfires and explosions.
With the above and other objects in view, this invention consists of the novel features of'construction, combination and arrangements of parts, hereinafter fully described claimed, and illustrated in the accompany ing drawings forming parts of this specilt cation, and in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all views, and in which:
Figures 1 and 2 are side elevations of my invention; Fig. 3 is a transverse longitudinal sectional view of same, and Figs. 4, 5, 6 and 7 present detail views.
With particular reference to the drawing, 10 indicates a tubular member, adapted to be screwed onto a gas cook, or jet, of the standard make; said member is provided with a bottom flange 9, and has a chamber 11 from which extends in a converging manner, as shown, two channels 12, adapted to conduct the flow of gas. The member 10 is connected to a nipple 13 by means of a cylindrical tube 14:, the latter combining said two members by way of screw threaded engagements, as at 15 and 16. The said nipple 13 has a bullet shaped form and is provided with a substantially cone shaped bore 17, while it has at its pointed end intersecting, preferably cross shaped, slits 18 that may be of different width, according to the object in view, and as shown in Figs. 5, 6 and 7. These slits extend only on the frontface of the nipple, and not sidewise also as disclosed in my aforementioned patented device, thereby avoiding any waste of gas, which will pass through said bore of the nipple and by means of the slittedoutlets on to the burner.
As a deviation from my invention, as described, but within the scope of same, I may, as shown in Fig. 2, in reducing my invention to practise construct the members '13 and i i in one piece, as at 19, which would in no way affect the result obtained, or the manner of operation. At the same time in elfocting a change as aforesaid I may also reverse the manner of attaching the members 10 and 19 by providing the member 19 with the threaded shank and the member 10 with the corresponding screw-threaded bore.
It is obvious that changes may be made in the form, construction and arrangement of the several parts, as shown, within the scope of the appended claim, without departing I from the spirit of the invention, and I do not therefore limit myself to the construe tion and arrangement shown and described herein.
' \Vhat I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent of the United States, is:
A device of the class described, comprising substantially two tubular shaped members threaded one upon the other, a chamber formed in the'hindmost of said members, two bores provided in the wall of said chamber and constructed to converge in a-forward manner, a bullet-shaped substantially flat faced tip threaded into the frontal member of the aforesaid two, the said tip being] formed with two slits, disposed at a right angle to each other, across its flat-faced endsurface only, substantially as and for the purpose set forth.
