CIGARETTE CASE.
vApplication filed March 8, 1926. Serial No. 93,048.
drawing a cigarette. To overcome this diiiiculty various means have been devised by which the top of the cigarette package may be caused to project somewhat above the top of the box portion, and it is the object of my invention-to provide a simple and ef? fective means for performing this function. My invention will be clearly understood from the following description considered in connection with the accompanying drawings, in which Figure l is a perspective view of a cigarette case equipped with my novel package v ejecting means;
Figure 2 is a front sectional view of the cigarette case; and
Figure 3 is a side sectional view of the Same.
The cigarette case consists of a box portion 1 of substantially rectangular paral elo piped shape and open at the top to receive the cigarette package. The cover 2 is integral with the box-portion and has a; Hap 3 which, when the cover is closed, -is secured between theside of the box and the strap 4, the ends'of which are fixed to said sides. Each of the above parts is composed of leather or other similar exible material.
The structure so far described is well known and I claim no novelty for the same.
My improved package ejecting means consists of va ribbon or tape 5 which has its ends secured to the cover portion 2 as shown at 6. The cover 2 is-preferably composed of' two contiguous layers of material and the ends of the ribbon or tape 5 are glued be tween them. Obviously, however, other means of securing the ends of the ribbon to the cover ma be em lo ed. The ribbon or tape 5 exten s beneath the cigarette acka e and along opposite sides thereof as s own 1n F1guresv2 and 3, and is held in close proximlty the sides of the box 1 by means of the strap guides 7, 7.
In operation, when the cover of the case 1s lifted, the clgarette package is caused to proJect somewhat out of the box 1 by reason of the ribbon or tape 5 which is carried up with the cover and lifts the cigarette package. A cigarette ma then be conveniently taken from the pac The case may be closed by pressing on the cover 2 or by pulling the flap 3.
Although I have described my invention as applied to a cigarette case, it is obvious that 1t is not restricted thereto but may be employed with any analo os containers for packages, and I do not esire to limit myself to its use only in connection with a cigarette case.
What I claim is:
A container for packages comprising a box open at the top for the reception of the package, a cover for the box, said box and cover being com osed of a exible material and the cover eing integrally formed with the box alon one edge and adapted to o en along said edge, a ribbon composed o? a single piece of yielding flexible material and having both of its ends secured rigidly to the cover, said ribbon extending beneath the package and alon opposite sides thereof, and straps secure to theV interior opposite sides of the box for guiding theribbon and for maintaining the same flat against the side of the box.
In testimony whereof, I have signed my name to this specification this 4th day of March, 1926.`
