My invention relates to hinge means for easement windows; and the main object of the invention is to provide hinge means of this kind which is arranged and providedv with means to graduallyk move the window upwardly and at the same time tilt it inwardly during the opening of the window,
'moved or tilted so that the upper end ot the window is `inwardly away from the Yframe while the lower end is moved upward- 'ly from behind the windowstool during the window opening operation.
A" further y object is to provide manual operating means on the hinges for positivelymoving `thewindow into its closing position andl likewise into its opening position; and a -further object is to provide such manual means or `lever means with means for positively retaining and locking thewindow in its closed position behind the window stool and also for:
positively retaining or holdingthe window liii its upper position or opening, position.

nectionwith a easement window including the window sashcs 11 and 12, which are swingably mounted in the window frame 13 and have their upper ends 11 and 12 bevelled to t closely under the bevelled edge 14 of the cap-or head meinberll on the window; and these window sashes are provided with my improved hinge mechanism whereby the windows may be moved or tilted inwardly with the upperends and at the same Vtime the lower ends of the window are elevated or lifted up from behind the window stool 15 of the easement window.
My improved hinge mechanism or iinproved hinge means, as illustrated in these drawings, preferably comprises two main hinge means, 16 and 17 the means 16 being attached to the upper part of the window and being arranged to permit 'inward tilting of the attached part of the window away from' the window frame, and the hinge means 17 is attached to the lower part of the Awindow and is arranged to permit upward sliding of the window from behind the window stool 15 and while the upper part of the window is moving inwardly from the frame into the room. i
The upper hinge means 16 preferably `comprises a hinge part 18 attached to the frame, with screws or any suitable fastening element, and a hinge part which is attached to the window sash and includes swingably connected elements 19 and 20, said elements being preferably arranged in the form of a flap hinge with pintle barrels and a pintle therein, to provide freely swinging and folding together of said elements during the operation of the window.` The element 19'is kconnected to the window sash, with screws or any suitable fastening elements as indicated in the drawings. These two hinge parts are connected by a member or plate 21 which isy pivot-ally connected by a pin 22 to a hinge part 18, and by a pin 23 to hinge element 20. A curved slot 2li is provided in ypart 18 for free movement therein of a pin 25 fastened on plate 21, and a curved slot 26 is provided in plate 21 for free movement 27 fastened on element 20, said pins having in the drawings, to prevent wobloling or tiltinoveinent of the hinge and plate? enlarged heads, as shown `tween thefspacedbarrels 30. vS1 has an enlarged inner bore 31.",
