SECURING DEVICE FOR MINERS LAMPS.
Application filed July 10,
The invention relates to means for securing miners lamps on the head-wear of miners and has for its object the provision of a hook member made of a single length of wire to be threaded through open ings in an angular plate to be secured to the crown and visor of a miners cap and having a U-shaped hook to engage a clip on the lamp, and also integral resilient members at the sides of the hook to engage the lamp and tension its engagement with the hook.
The invention will be described in detail hereinafter and will be found illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which Figure 1 is a side View of a miners cap showing a lamp securing means associated therewith, the lamp being shown in broken lines,
Figure 2, a front view of the member to be attached to the cap with the improved hook and plate, and
Figure 3, a fragmental sectional view on a plane indicated by the line 3-3 of Fig ure 1.
In the drawings, similar reference characters will be used to designate corresponding parts throughout the severalviews.
The means for securing a miners lamp to a cap comprises a plate 1 having its ends bent as shown at 2 to be secured to the crown of a miners cap A, and as shown at 3 is secured to the visor of the cap, any preferred means of securing the plate 1 to the cap being used. The hook member is formed of a single length of wire that is bent intermediate of its ends to form an inverted U-shaped hook 4, having the bight of the hook compressed to form a narrowed portion 5 to aid in attaching the lamp to the hook. The length of wire is bent upwardly as shown at 6 on each side of the U-shaped member 4, and is threaded through openings 7 and 8 arranged on each 1926. Serial No. 121,719.
side of the hook.
emerging from the opening 8 is then bent outwardly and downwardly from'the plate as shown at 9, and then downwardly substantially parallel to the plate 1, as shown at 10, and its extremity bent inwardly and u 'iwardly as shown at 11. i
The lamp B is provided with a clip 12 that is soldered or otherwise secured to the lamp and spaced therefrom to receive the Ushaped member 4, and when in position the parts 10 by engaging the clamp, said parts setting out farther from the plate 1 than the hook 4:, form resilient members to yieldingly hold the lamp in engagement with the hook to prevent casual displacement thereof.
It will be apparent that the portions of the wire threaded through the openings 7 and S will securely hold the hook member on the plate, but to prevent rattling and to insure against movement of the hook member on the plate, the portions 13 of the wire at the rear of the plate may be soldered as shown at M for the purpose stated.
"What is claimed is A securing device for miners lamps bent laterally said member.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
