GOLF CLUB,
Application filed June 1'7,
My invention relates to golf clubs.
it is the object of my invention to provide a golf club in which the weight at the base of the shaft and at the top of the shaft may be adjusted to suit theii'idividual preference oi the owner of the club, Without disclosing the presence of the weight so as to present a neat and perfect appearance.
Eteferring to the drawings:
Figure l is side elevation of a club @111- bodying my invention.
Figure 2 is a section on the line 2--2 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a section on the line 33 oi. Figure 2. v
Figure 4 is a section on the lined-" i ot Figure l.
Referring to the drawings in detail, 1 is the shaft oil the club having a handle por tion 2 encased in the usual resilient wrapping 3 and leather cover i. The upper end of the club designated 5 is provided with an aperture, preferably cylindrical, designated 'llhe lower end of this aperture is tilledwith a lead weight 7, the enact size oi which and extent of which may be varied according to the desires of the user. In order to retain. thisweigl'it in place and to conceal it, 1 employ a. fibre plug 8 which is of resilient character. This plug fills the upper end of the opening 6 retaining the lead in place, closing the opening and forming a neat end for the club. I
At the base of the shaft at the point where the shaft joins the head of the club or in 1927. Serial No. 199,476.
the club head itself, preferably on the axis of the shaft, I provide an aperture 9 having its open end on the bottom of the club,
such aperture 9 being filled at its base by the lead insert 10 which is retained in position by thctibre insert 11. This fibre insert expands against the wood of the club head 12 forming a tight closure for the aperture 9 and retention of the lead 10.
It will be understood that I desire to cornprehend within my invention such modifications as may be necessary to adapt it to varying conditions and uses.
Having thus fully described my invention what I claim is new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is: i
