A news-stand vof' the character described, comprising a frame structure having upper andl lower compartments separated by a transverse partition, the upper compartment being open at its top and front end and the lower compartment being open at its frontend, the side wa'lls'of said coinpartments being provided with .substantially horizontal guideways above and below said partition, upright guide-posts supported on the latter aiid'pextending above/the open' top ot said upper compartment, a vertical'ly-movable member guide-d on said posts, a cover connected to said member and arranged to eX- y tend over thetop of the upper compartment in the lowered and elevated position of its "attaching member', crossv bars movable --iii said guideways, and covers .norn'ially closing the open front ends of said compartments and connectedto said cross bars'for move-- ment intoandout of said guideways.y
