. I DRAWING ROLLER roa SPINNING MaonrNEs.
' Application filed June 18, 1925, Serial No. 37,963; and inGermany'Jnne 2i, ie24.
My invention relates to improvements in ments is to provide means wherebythe sliver is supported While passing between the sucv Another cessive pairs of drawing rollers. object of the improvements is 'to' provide Subsidiary drawing rollers intermediate the main drawing rollers for stretching the sliver, the said subsidiary .drawing rollers being connected so as to stretchshort fibres of the sliver and. to permit the passage of vlong fibres therethrough without drawing the same. With these and other objects in view my invention consists in providing subsidiary pairs of drawing rollers intermediate the main rollers, the working faces of the said subsidiary rollers being slightly spaced from each other so as to permit long fibres to pass between the same without being drawn, and to stretch only'short fibre material.
For the purpose of explaining the invention "an example embodying the same has been shown in the accompanying drawings,
in'which the same reference characters have been used in all the views to indicate corresponding parts. In'said-drawings,
Fig; 1, is a diagrammatical elevation of the apparatus,
Fig. 2, is a top-plan'view'with rollers removed,
Fig. 3, isa detail'view the subsidiary rollers, and I Fig. 4, is a similar view showing a modification. I
In the example shown in the figures the apparatus comprises back bottom drawing rollers a middle bottom drawing rollers b and front bottom drawing rollers 0 and back top rollers a middle top rollers b and front top rollers 0 the bottom rollers being mounted in roller stands p, and the top rollthe top showing one of ers in cap bars n, as is known in the art.
' Between'the pairs of rollers 0 0 and 6 b In the example shown in the figures the hotaras? Q FI E" I-wish tobe understood that my 'inven tion relatively tothe stand by means of a screw '2', lateral displacementof the said stand it being prevented by'lugs k'depend ing from the said stand h; The stand it provides a bearing for the subsidiary bottom rollers g and'cl fThe subsidiarytop rollers (Z2 and g p are mounted. on: the cap In Fig. 3 I have shown a roller which can be used either as a-subsidiary bottom roller 9 or d or a subsidiary toprolle'r-al 7 As shown the said'roller is slightly reduced in diameter at its median or working part W as compared to-its ends the differencev of thediameters being not'morethan a fraction of a millimeter." 'InFig. 4 I have shown a modification in which the working face r of the cylinder 'is'providedwith circumferentia'l grooves. Preferably the roller is mounted so that the projecting portions 'between the grooves are slightly spaced ft'ro'm w the cooperating roller. 1 Bythusproviding a slight clearance between the workingfacesof the rollers'the sliver is held underdight In Fig. 2 I have shown n examplejin which a plurality of loose bottom'rollers are connected with one another, so that af'con tinuous series extending-the whole length of the machine is produced. Foreac'h side of such-loose'or connected bottom rollers a common support may be provided'on the stand.
I claim 1. In an'apparatus of the class described,
the combination, with two pairs of main drawing rollers, of a pair of subsidiary drawing rollers having smooth working faces slightly spaced from each other.
2. In an apparatus of the class described,
the combination, with two pairs of main drawing rollers, of a pair of subsidiary drawing rollers having smooth working, i
faces, the working face of one of said rollers being reduced in diameter as compared to other portion-s of the roller. H
3. A drawing apparatus for spinning ma-.
chines, including a plurality of pairs of main drawing rollers, and an auxiliary air of rollers within the stretching Zone etween two adjacent pairs of said main drawing rollers, one ofsaid auxiliary'roll'ers having its end portions Contacting with the other auxiliary roller whereby one is frictionally driven from the other andhaving its intermediate portion smooth and of slightly smaller diameter. 7 Y i 4. A drawing apparatus for spinnin machines, including'two pairs'of main raw- 'flO ' chines, including a plurality of. drawing ingrollers, and an auxiliary pair of rollers therebetween, said auxiliary rollers. having their end. portions in frictional driving en ga'gement and their intermediate portions smooth and slightly spaced apart.
5. A drawing apparatus for spinning ma.- chines, including a plurality of drawing rollers arranged to form a stretching 'zone, certain ofsaid rollers being arranged in pairs, to 'grip and stretch-the sliver passing therebetween, and certain of said rollers be-, ing arranged in pairs to permit slippage of the sliver.
chines, including a plurality of .drawing.
rollers, two of said rollers having their surfaces acting; to grip the sliver passing therebetween, and two of said rollers having their ;working surfaces'slightly spaced, and means for driving one of said second mentioned rollers from one of said first mentioned rollers. g 1 I [8. *A drawing apparatus for spinningniachines, including a pluralityof. drawing rollers, two of said rollers-having their surfaces acting to grip the, sliver passingtherd between, and two of said rollers having their working surfaces "slightlyspaced, anda belt for driving one of said second inentionedrollers from one of'said first mentioned rollers. r q
9. A drawing apparatus for spinning mashines, including two pair's'of drawing rollers having their surfaces coacting to form a stretching 'zone'betwe'en said pairs, and an intermediatepair of stretching rollers, one
of said intermediate rollers having its working surface slightly spaced from the other, and a belt fordriving one of said intermediate rollers from one of saidffirstmentioned rollers. v
10, A drawing apparatus for spin'ningmachines, includinga stand, aplurality of lower main stretching rollers mountedthereon,
' an auxiliary member serving to retain Said rollers in position, lower auxiliary rollers mounted in said member, a pivoted cap bar having upper main rollers for cooperating with'saidlower main rollers and also chav-' ingupper auxiliary rollers for cooperating with said lower auxiliary rollers, and means for driving saidlower auxiliary rollers from a,
said lower main rollers. v I g '11. A drawing apparatus for s inning ma chines, including a stand, a plura ity of lower 'main stretching rollers mounted thereon,
an auxiliary member serving toretain said rollers in position, lower auxiliary rollers mounted in said member, a pivoted cap bar having upper main rollers i'or cooperating with said lower main rollers and also vhaving upper auxiliary rollers for cooperating with said lower auxiliary rollers, and means for driving said lower 'auxiliaryrollers from said lower main rollers each of said-upper rollers being 'f-rietion'ally driven from its corresponding lower roller, and one of each pair of auxiliary rollers having its working surface slightly spaced fromtheworkin'g surface of the cooperating auxiliary roller.-
In-testimony whereof- I havejaffixedj my signature. 7 it UDo DITITMAR.
