PATENT OFFICE.
JOSEPH SHEPARD, OF SCHENEOTADY, NEW YORK.
COMBINATION ADVERTISING HANDKERCHIEF AND IIADIOSCOPE.
Application led June 29, 1927. Serial No. 202,308.
This invention relates generally to the art of dressing and advertising combined, and has more particular reference to a novel type of fancy handkerchief, radiating scope, and advertising card combined.
The invention has for an object the provision of an improved device which will look classy, have acertain amount of entertaining features, and a certain amount of advertising matter thereon.
A further object of this invention being to provide a device substantiating a fancy breast pocket silk handkerchief, but in reality being only a fragmentary portion, thereby permitting a saving of silk material.
For further comprehension of the invention, and of the objects and advantages thereof, reference will be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, and to the appended claims in which the various novel features of the invention are more particularly set forth.
Referring to the drawings forming a material part of this disclosure: p
Fig. 1 is a front view of a deviceconstructed according to this invention.
Fig. 2 is a side view thereof.
Fig. 3 is an enlarged fragmentary side view showingv the manner in which the handastened to the card.
Fig. 4 is an enlarged fragmentar side view showin a modified manner of astening the han kerchief to the card.
Fig. 5 is an enlarged fragmentary side View showing another modification for attaching the handkerchief to the card.
Fig. 6 is a side View thereof. y
The reference numeral 10 indicates a handkerchief member suitably folded to simulate that portion of a handkerchief which projects from a wearers breast pocket. The bottom edge of the handkerchief member is engaged between the ends l1a of a card 11 folded as indicated by l1". The ends 11a have strips l2 of doubled material thereon, and stitchings 13 serve to fasten the various parts together.
Advertising matter, or the like, may be printed on the faces of the cards 11, as indicated by numeral 17. An amusement device may also be applied to the device, such as a radiating scope comprising an eyelet 14 in one side of card 11, several hairs 15 stretched across the eyelet opening, and an aperture 16 in the coinciding with looking through the appearance other side of card 11, said eyelet opening. Upon said eyelet at ones hand of shadows substantiating bones makes it appear as though one was looking through an X ray.
In the modification shown in Fig. 4, one piece of doubled material 18 is used to cover the ends 11a of card 11, while the handkerchief member 10 is engaged in a central depression 18a of said material.
The modification shown in Figs. 5 and 6 illustrates that the handkerchief member l0 may be removably attached to the cardll, which permits a change of the handkerchief member to another of different design. The member 10 is formed at its lower end with a plurality of tubular members 20, extending along` both sides thereof while the ends 11u are formed with intermediate tubular members 21, and removable interlocking pins 22 hold these tubular members together. The handkerchief 10 is rigidly held upwards and cannot pivot downwards about the pivoted tubular members 20 and 21 since these pivoted members exist on both sides of the member 10, and are therefor in spaced horizontal positions.
While I have illustrated and described my invention with some degree of particularity, I realize that in practice various alterations therein may be made. I therefore reserve the right and privilege of changing the form of the details of construction or otherwise altering the arrangement of the correlated parts without departing from the spirit or the scope of the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is:
1. In a device of the class described, the combination with a handkerchief member, of a plurality of spaced tubular members eX- tending along both sides of the lower end of the handkerchief member, a folded card having the bend at the bottom and the free ends at the top, spaced tubular members extending along each top end of the card, and aligned with the first mentionedtubular members, and removable pins engaged thru the said tubular members.
2. In a device of the class described, the combination with a handkerchief member, of a plurality of spaced tubular members B I momen.
