FALSE-TEETH TOOTH CROWN.
Application filed June 24, 1927.
My invention has reference to an improvement in the art of dentistry and more particularly to an improvement in a metallic tooth crown for sets of false teeth.
In the usual construction of both the upper and lower setsof false teeth, the construction is such that they appear to be just what they are, false.
The object of my invention is to give a more natural appearance to the false teeth and I accomplish this object by providing some of the false teeth, in sets of false teeth, with metallic tooth crowns, preferably of gold, thereby giving to the false teeth the appearance of bridge work, as it would be done on natural teeth in the mouth.
A special construction of tooth crown is required for use'on false teeth, as the kind of tooth crown used for crowning natural teeth can not be used for this purpose.
A further object of my invention is to provide a metallic tooth crown that is particularly adapted for use in both upper and lower sets of false teeth.
My invention consists in the peculiar and novel construction of a metallic tooth crown for false teeth sets, said metallic tooth crown having details of construction as will be more fully set forth hereinafter and claimed.
Figure 1 is a vertical view of my improved false tooth crown for a lower lateral tooth, looking at the labial surface of the crown.
Figure 2 is a vertical view of the crown, looking at the lingual surface of the crown.
Figure 3 is a vertical edge view of the crown, looking at the mesial surface of the crown.
Figure 4 is a vertical sectional view through the crown, taken on line 4, 4, of Figure 2 and looking atthe inner surface of the distal edge or surface of the crown.

In the drawing 7 indicates in section a. portion of a lower set of false teeth provided with my improved false teeth tooth crown 8, also shown in section.
My improved false teeth tooth crown is Serial No. 201,136.
made of metal, preferably of gold in the form of a shell, shaped to simulate any of the teeth used in either the upper or lower gual surface 14, inwardly bent ledge 15' and an opening 16 in the back of the crown which extends from the ledge 15v to the root end 13 and forms a U shaped lip 17 on the distal surface 10, the mesial surface 11 and the rounded rootend 13 of the crown. The ledge 15 is bent inwardly towards the inner face of the labial surface 9 and away from the incisal edge 12 of the crown, as shown in Figure 4. This lip 17 is a continuation of the distal surface, the mesial surface and the root end of the crown and it has a straight edge, looking at either the distal or mesial surfaces, as shown in Figures 3 and 4. A series of apertures 18, 18, are formed in the ledge 15 and in the U shaped lip 17 adjacent the edge of the lip, as shown in Figures 3, 4 and 6. These apertures 18, 18, may be of any size, shape or number required. As shown they are in the form of round holes. Y
My improved false teeth tooth crowns is used as follows. The rubber 19 of the false teeth set 7 is first in a plastic condition and the tooth crown is filled with the same plastic rubber .19. The tooth crown is then forced into position into the plastic rubber 19 of the false teeth set, thereby forcing the plastic rubber 19 through the apertures 18, 18, inthe ledge 15 and the lip 17 The false teeth set with the crown is now vulcanized in the usual way. By the rubber in the false teeth set uniting with the rubber in the crown, through the opening 16 and the apertures 18, 18, in the crown, the crown is now firmly secured to or locked to the false teeth set, as shown in Figure 5.
Having thus described my invention I claim as new 1. A false teeth metallic tooth crown having an inwardly bent ledge and an opening in the back of the crown, a series of apertures in the ledge and a series of apertures adjacent the edge of the opening in the crown, for the purpose as described.
