This invention relates to improvements in roll grinding machines and has particular reference to a machine for production ot arcuate or barrel shaped rolls.
One ot the objects ol the present invention is the provision ot' a production machine ot' the ccnterless type tor rapid automatic grinding ot what are commonly termed barrel shaped rolls tor roller bearings or the like.y having a larger central than terminal diameter.
A further object ot the present invention is the provision oi a roll grinding machine which shall he generative in its action, thus tending to maintain to a maximum degree the etticient operation oi' the grinding wheel and eliminate the necessity ot `frequent truing present in ordinary Vt'orrn grinding.
Another object ot' the present invention is the provision oi a machine for production ot' work ol the general nature above mentioned, which through utilization ot a double supply mechanism will perform substantially continuous grinding for the attainment ot machine production.
Other ohjects and advantages of the present invention should he readily apparent by reference to the following specication taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings, audit will hc understood that l may make any modifications in the specilie structural details ot' the embodiment chosen for purposes ot' illustration within the scope ot' the appended claims. without departing from or exceeding the spirit ot the in vention.

The grinding wheel is t'ormed with an arcuate 'tace 15 as clearly illustrated in Figure 2 'for example, this face having a transverse curve complementary or controgeneric to that to be produced on the finished work pieces 16.
It will be understood that in grinding otl barrel shaped work pieces 1G as shown, that it is impossible to pass these pieces directly through a centerless grinder as is done in the grinding oi" ordinary cylindrical rollers. The purpose thereiore oi the present invention is to provide a method of grinding such rolls and an apparatus tor carrying out the method which will 'facilitate the most rapid and at the same time accurate production thereo t. In the. attainment ot this result the bed 10 is provided with a guidewav lor the slide 17, disposed in opposition to the grinding wheel slide 11 and adjustable as hv screw 1S and hand wheel 19. A centerless grinding machine, including a grinding wheel, an opposed regulating wheel and an intermediate work rest, magazines disposed at opposite sides of the grinding wheel, means for shitting the regulating wheel and work rest in an arcuate path concentric with the face ot the grinding wheel, an automatic means lor discharging a finished work piece and replacing it with a piece to he ground from the magazine at each stroke ot' the regulating wheel.
