This invention relates to a novel form of carton which is provided with a convenient means of opening the same whereby upon opening ready access may be had to the contents.

What we claim is- 1. A cigarette carton including foil and paper wrappings and havin in combination therewith a tearing string isposed between the foil and paper Wrapping at one side of and at the ends of the carton, said string being disposed within all of the wra pings at the opposite side of the carton and l iaving its ends passing through an opening in said side whereby said side and the two edges of the carton may be fractured by drawing upon the strin to permit the carton to be 0 ned by ben ing said unruptured side as a mge.

2. A cigarette carton including foil and paper wrappings and having a tearing string in combination therewith, said tearing string disposed between the foil and paper wrappings at one side of and at the ends of the carton, said tearin strin upon the other and opposite side Eeing sposed inside all of the wrappings including theinner foil la er and havmg its ends upon said opposite si e passing through an opening in said side and adapted to rupture the said opposite side of the carton and the-two end edges and leave the side in which the tearing string is embedded between the foil and paper wrapplilngs unruptured so that it may serve as a 'nge substantially about the tearing string as an axis and leave the cigarettes disposed inaccessible halves of the carton. v
