I. A. ROMMER nouns RUBBER HEAD Filed March 1927 INVENTOR Isaac l-Rpm BY a ATTORNEY Fatented Nov. 212,, i927.
nset ISAAG A. HUMMER, OF BROOKLYN NEW YORK.
DOLLS RUBBER HEAD.
Application filed March 4, 1927. Serial No. 172,888.
M" invention relates to a dolls head and particularly. to the means tor holding doll's EveS 1n 3OSl't10n in a rubber head.
lhe eneral ob ect oi' in inventlon is to cation, it being understood that the drawings are merely illustrative 0t one example ot the invention.
Figure l is a front elevation of a dolls head embodying my invention.
Figure 2 an enlarged horizontal section as indicated by the line2-2 in Figure 1.
Figure is a horizontal section taken through the eye ball shell.
Figure is a transverse vertical section on the line d fl of Figure l.
in carrying; out my invention in practice in accordance with the illustrated example a head 10 is formed of resilient rubber and eye sockets ii. are produced therein, said eye sockets being Cl()f;6tl at the back orinner side by the portion of the material at the back o't each SOCrlG't.
in practice the head at the eye socket 11 is formed With convex protuberances 13 to fill the shell 14 representing the eyeball and vide in the material of he rubber head,
form a iii-in backing therefor, said eyeball shell being concave-convex.
An overlapping edge 15 is formed at the socket and extending in practice completely about the same so that an undercut groove 16 is presented at the edge portion of the socket, (as best shown in Figure 4) The resiliency of the material of the head at the eye sockets holds the eyeballs let firmly in position and the overlapping edge portion 15 and undercntgroov-e 16 prevent the accidental displacement of the eyeballs and indeed make it practically impossible to extract the eyeballs Without a person gaining access to the interior of the head to press outwardly on the portion 12 forniingthe closed inner side of the sockets.
I Would state furthermore that While the illustrated example constitutes a practical embodiment of my invention 1 do not limit myself strictly to the exact details herein illustrated, since, manifestly, the 534119 can be considerably varied Without departure from the spirit oi the invention, as defined in the appended claim.
hat I claim is:
A dolls head having sockets formed of resilient rubber, the inner side of; the sockets leing closed and the front of each socket having a convex protuberance, eyeball shells fitting over said protuberances and resilient lips at the edgesol the sockets overlapping the eyeball elements.
