This invention relates to a composition for stopping leaks in hot water circulating systems such as automobile radiators, cylinder blocks in internal combustion engines,
5 boilers, and in any other systems where hot water circulates. I
Heretofore many leak stopping compositions have been manufactured and sold, but in many of these compositions the ingredients will settle in the lowest portion of the hot water circulating system, clogging the same, and in many instances, the mucilaginous matter contained therein will form a coating over the interior of the circulating revents radiation to a large extent and in t 1e case of automobile radiators the radiators are so affected that it is sometimes necessary to clean the same before they can be used to any satisfaction.
It .is an object of this invention to provide a composition for stopping leaks in hot water circulatingsystems which will permanently seal the' leaks which may be present therein, and at the same time keep the interior of the hot water circulating system in good condition. v
Another object of my invention is to provide a leak stopping compound for hot water circulating systems which will repair the leak without injury to the hot water circulating system. 7
Some of the objects of my invention having been stated, other objects will appear when taken in connection with the accompanying description setting forth a pre:
ferred embodiment of my invention.
I attain the above stated objects of invention by placing in the hot water circu lating system a composition which com--- 4 prises the following ingredients:

Although I do not desire to be bound by the explanation as to how the above ingredients act and react when placed in a hot water circulating system, I oiier the following explanation, as to what I think takes place.
When the composition is placed ina hot water circulating system, the tri-sodium phosphate and silicate of soda very soon lve and hydrolyze, fogming sodium hy- LEAK-STOPPIN G COM POSITION.

These colloids also act to keep the aluminum suspended.
In the leak stopping process the larger portions of the flaxseed meal find their way I into the leaks and become lodged therein, the sa aller particles follow the larger ones, and soon the hole is plugged. In the course of a very short time the sodium hydroxide acts on the aluminum, causing the latter to 0 form aluminum h droxide, aluminum soap, .and aluminum silicate. All 0 t ese compounds aid in cementlng the uncombined aluminum and flax seed particles in position,
thus making the seals permanena. 1
I find that the deterging and cleansing action of both tri-sodium phosphate and silicate of soda is good, that'of thesilioate of soda, bein especially good, since it produces the colloi al hydrated silica, as above mentioned. y
In the specification, I have set forth a pre ferred em odiment of my invention, and although specific terms are employed, they are used in a generic and descriptive sense only, 95.
and not for purposes v03E limitation, the scopeof the invention being set forth in the appended claims.
I claim:
1. Acomposition for stopping leaks in hot water circulating systems comprising a mixture of aluminum, flax seed meal, tri-sodium phosphate and silicate of soda.
2. A. composition for stopping leaks 'in hot water circulating systems comprising a mixture of aluminum, flax seed meal and tri-sodium phosphate.
