PATENT OFFICE.
HOWARD P. CONRAD, OF VINCENNES, INDIANA.
SPORT STORM HOSE.
' Application filed December 7, 1926; Serial No. 153,114.
This invention relates to and has for one of its objects to provide a hose which shall be adapted to be worn by women and children for the purpose of protecting their dress hose in damp weather, which will fit snugly and present a neat and attractive appearance, and which may be manufactured and sold at a comparatively low cost.
The foregoing and other objects are attained by the novel construction hereinafter fully described and claimed, and illustrated in the accompanying drawing, wherein:
Figure 1 is a View in side elevation of the hose, 3
Figure 2 is a View partly in elevation and partly in vertical section illustrating the application of the hose, and V Figure 3 is a detail sectional View taken on the planes indicated by the line 3-3 of 0 Figure 2.
The hose comprises a leg portion 1, heel portion 2, and instep portion 3 which is provided at opposite sides of its longitudinal center with slots 4. The hose is fully open below the instep portion 3. It is made of thin rubber and in various colors and various sizes, and is provided with a fancy garter 5 which may be formed integrally with or made separately and attached to the upper edge of the leg portion 1.
The hose, which may be termed fsport storm hose, is adapted to be worn over the dress hose 6 with the instep portion 3 cover ing the opening in the pump or oxford of the wearer, as shown in Figure 3. The strap 7 of the shoe 8, or the lace of the shoe, passes through the openings 4 to hold the instep portion 3 in place. Since it is made of dif ferent sizes and of different colors, the hose may be selected to fit tightly and match the color of the dress hose, and since it is made of thin rubber it can be worn with comfort. The hose is especially adapted to be worn at football games and other outdoor sports, and will effectively protect the dress hose from dampness.
What is claimed is 2- 1. A hose made of water-proof material and having leg, heel, instep and garter portions and being fully open below the instep I portion, and said instep portion being pr0- vided with slots for the reception of a shoe lace or strap.
2. A hose made of thin rubber and having leg, heel, instep and garter portions and being fully open below the instep portion, and said instep portion being provided at opposite sides of its longitudinal center with slots for the reception of a shoe lace or strap.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature.
HOWARD P. CONRAD.
