Description

1 POIRIER l l NAIL PUNCH HOLDER Filed Jan. 2l'. 1927 nvefvztor leo/7 Pom/er v ByQwwm/MQ Patented Oct. 11, 1927.
UNTED STATS LEON POIRIER, OF TRACADIE, NEW BRUNSWICK, CANADA.
NAIL-PUNCH HOLDER.
Application filed January 21, 1327. Serial No. 162,564.
"' single structural element formed from a the nail punch.
A further object is to provide a holder of this kind that may be associated with Various shapes of hammer handles and this without any liability of the holder becoming displaced therefrom.
lVith the foregoing and other objects in view as the nature of the invention will be better understood, the same comprises the novel form of nail punch holder hereinafter more fully described, shown in the accompanying drawing and claimed.
In the drawing wherein like reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views:
Figure l is a side elevation of a conventional hammer equipped with a. nail punch holder constructed in accordance with the present invention, a conventional type of nail punch being shown as disposed within the holder.
Figure 2 is a perspective of the holder per se, and
Figure 3 is a plan view of the sheet metal blank from which the holder is constructed.
Now having particular reference to'the drawing wherein there is disclosed the most preferred embodiment of the invention with which I am at this time familiar, 5 indicates a length of sheet metal provided at one longitudinal edge an'd intermediate the ends thereof with a narrow tongue 6. In actual practice this length of sheet metal is so bent upon itself as to provide a generally oval shape double and spaced jaw clasp 7 for snug fit upon the handle A of a hammer B, see Figure l. Intermediate the ends of the strip of material, the blank is so formed as to provide a horse shoe shaped clasp 8, the back wall of which is contiguous with the tongue 6 of said blank. The tongue is rounded to conform to the curvature of the back wail of said clasp as indicatedfin Figure- 2.V
is disclosed in Figure l a nail punch C of conventional design is adapted to be forced into the clasp 9 while said tongue forms a continuation thereof to provide an additional support for the nail punch` It will thus be seen that I have provided a highly novel, simple, and eiiicient holder for nail punches that is well adapted f or all the purposes heretofore designated and even though I have herein shown and described tlie invention as consisting of a certain detail formation of a metallic blank resulting in the provision of the holder it is nevertheless to Abe understood that some changes may be made therein without affecting the spirit and scope of the appended claim.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is In a nail punch holder for hammers, a single length of sheet metal bent upon itself tol provide a double jaw clasp for engagement upon the handle of the hammer, a nail punch clasp at the side of said first mentioned clasp formed by further bending the length of metal intermediate the jaws of said lirst mentioned clasp, and a tongue at one longitudinal edge of the length of sheet metal intermediate the ends thereof having contiguous relation with the back wall of the nail punch holder clasp for increasing the length of supporting surface for said nail punch.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature.
Leon POIRIER.
