The embodiment of the invention shown is designed and adapted specially for use as an undertakers dressing bed, though, as will'hereinafter appear, the invention may be used for other purposes with equal satisgfaction. As shown, the end frames 1 may be of any desired configuration or design and are supported upon caster rollers 2. To each upright side member of each end frame a plate 3 is removably attached by screws 4 and each plate supports a knob 5.

The horizontal portion of the bed is an adjustable and foldable structure and comprises at the foot atpair of horizontal slde members 6 each of which is composed of angle iron, the respective flanges of which are vertical at the sides andextend horizontally inwardly at the top. The strips 13 and 14 are interlaced to provide a woven resilient frame structure sufficiently above the rigid transverse bar 7 to obtain the benefit of the resilient characteristics of said resilient frame. The supporting portion of the front en of the horizontal frame includes a pair of horizontal side members 15 composed of angle iron, the rear ends of which are overlapped by the front ends of the frame member 6 and are pivoted thereto by pivots 16 permitting the frame members 15 to be folded downwardly and rearwardly against the under side of the rear portion of the bed frame. The front ends of the side members 15 are'connected by a transverse angle iron bar 17 supporting angle plates 18 similar in all respects to the plates 3 and having knobs 19 corresponding to the knobs 5. The plates 18 have holes and slots corresponding to the holes 10 and slots 11 for similar purposes.

A number of transverse resilient strips 25 connect the frame members 20 and are interlaced with the strips 24 to provide a resilient \voven frame.

A pair of angle iron arms 26 have their rear ends connected by pivots 27 with the side members 20 and have their forward ends connected by a transverse rod 28. The lower edges of the vertical flanges of the arms 26 are provided with notches 29 designed and adapted to engage upon a down wardlv bowed transverse rod 30 connecting the side frame members 15. It is apparent that this arrangement permits the pivoted head frame to be raised to and supported in different angles of inclination or placed horizontally, as desired.

From the foregoing it will be seen that my improved bed may be constructed of light and very strong metal so that it is easily portable, may be easily assembled and dismantled, and 15 therefore highly useful as an undertakers drefiing bed, However, the

utility of the device is not restricted to such use, as it is satisfactory for gei'loral purposes.

What I claim and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:-

A bed comprising angle iron side frame members each havil'lg one of its flanges ver tical and its other flange extending horizontally inwardly from the upper edge of said vertical flange, a. resilient strip coi'inecting said horizontal flanges of sa d frame members, a pair of angle iron side fra me members having their rear ends ynvolod to the respective first named frame members a short distance in front of said resilient strip and having vertical flanges movable downwardly between the inner edges of said horizontal flanges of said first named frame members and having outwardly extending horizontal flanges arnnged to rest upon said horizontal flanges of said first named frame members in one position of said second frame inen'ibers, a series of resilient stri is having their front ends connected to said second frame members and their rear ends connected to said resilient strip, and means for supporting said second framemembers parallel with each other and in different angles of inclination relative to said first named frame members.
