IMPROVEMENT IN BOG-BOOTS FOR ANIMALS.
Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 164,1 74, dated June 8, 1875; application filed March 29, 1815.
To atl whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, VILHELM JACOBS, of Charleston, in the county of Charleston and State of South Carolina, have invented anew and Improved Bog-Boot for Animals, of which the following is a specification:
My invention consists of a bog-boot for horses and mules, to Wear on soft, boggy ground to prevent miring, whereof the upper is made in two Side and one front piece, and a back stit't'ener, together with straps for buckling the boot fast onto the foot, and loopstraps to keep the fastening-straps in place, the said side pieces being to open the top to admit the foot, and then close on it without wrinkling, as an upper made in one piece will. The side pieces meet together behind, and they are cut down on the top to it the fetlock, so as not to injure it.

The fastening-straps are attached to the heel-piece, and pass around the upper through the loops,vwhich keep them in place, and they buckle together and fasten the upper on the foot Without any Wrinkles, such as are v made by the folds of an upper made in one piece, and which chate the foot.
The stiftening-piece behind the two side pieces closes over their joint to exclude dirt` and it holds them in place, particularly against shifting over sidewise.
Having thus described my invention, l claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- A bog-boot for animals, whereof the upper is composed of two side pieces, A, front piece B, and heel-stii'ening C, and provided with the fastening-straps D and loops E, substantially as speciied.
