ORNAMENTAL FOOT COVERING.

Application filed. March 18, 1926, Serial No. 95,657, and-in Germany June 29, 1925.

This invention relates to an ornamental foot-covering and consists in the provision of a piece of lace or the like adapted to rest on the instep just above the edge of the shoe and having means for being attached to the foot, the article being intended to be worn under a thin stocking so as to be visible through the latter. 7

The device shown in the drawings consists of a triangular piece of lace work a which is attached to a toe cap 6. The latter is applied to the foot previous to the stocking and is adapted to hold the lace a over the instep so that it shows through the stocking just above the edge of the shoe.

Arranged in this manner the lace affords a neat ornamentation for the most prominent part of the foot. I j

The shape, style and colour of the article,

which is preferably hand-made, may be varied as desired.

The toe cap 6 may be replaced by a band, elastic cord or the like adapted for connection to the toe or to be passed round the foot or the leg.

Naturally the article may, if desired, be

attached to the inside of the stocking.

l/Vhat I claim is: r

1. An openwork ornamental element formed for wear upon a portion of the leg beneath thin hosiery so as to show through '35 the hosiery and give the appearance of being an ornamental constituent of the hosiery, and means for holding saidelement in position relative to such portion of the leg and to the hosiery.

An ornamental element for wear on the foot beneath thin hosiery, said element comprising a foot engaging portion and a sub stantially triangular-shaped ornamental member, the latter engaging at its base an edge portion of the former and projecting therefrom so as to rest upon the instep and show through the stocking above the upper edge of the upper of a low shoe.

3. An ornamental elelnent for wear on the foot beneath thin hosiery, said element comprising a toe engaging cap and a substantially triangular-shaped openwork ornamental member secured at its basal edge to the rear edge of the top of the cap and projecting therefrom so as to rest upon the instep and show through the stocking above the upper edge of the upper of a low shoe.
