Description

May 26, 1925.
c. w. TORBERT S PRAY Filed Oct. 27, 1924 ATTORNEY WITNESS:
Patented May 26, 1925.
CHARLES W. TORBERT, OF OKLAHOMA CITY, OKLAHOMA.
SPRAY.
Application filed October 2'7, 1924.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that 1, CHARLES W. Tonnnnr, a citizen of the United States, residing at Oklahoma City, in the county of Oklahoma and State of Oklahoma, have invented new and useful Improvements in Sprays, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a spray device, the general object of the invention being to provide means whereby a circular spray nozzle may be held in the palm of the hand of the user and water supplied to the same from a hose connection so that various spraying and washing operations maybe easily carried out, the device being so arranged that the hand is free to grasp a sponge or the like in washing automobiles, windows, etc.
Another object of the invention is to pro vide means whereby the device can be attached to an ordinary garden hose. I
This invention also consists in certain other features of construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, to be hereinafter fully described, il lustrated in the accompanying drawings and specifically pointed out in the appended claims.
In describing my invention in detail, reference will be had to the accompanying drawings wherein like characters denote like or corresponding parts throughout the several views, and in which Figure l is a view showing how the device can be used with a sponge in the washing of automobiles, windows, etc.
Figure 2 is a bottom plan view of the device itself.
Figure 3 is a sectional view device.
In these views, 1 indicates a substantially triangular strip ofmetal or the like which has its base formed with an enlargement 2 which is provided with perforations 3. A cup-shaped member a is suitably connected with the enlarged part so as to form a circular spray nozzle. A pipe 5 has one end connected with the member t and in communication with the interior of the same through the Serial No. 746,160.
. shown at 10.
The hand of the user is adapted to be passed through the triangulanshaped pipe 1 with the pipe 5 extending between two of the lingers of the hand so that the device is supported on the hand with the nozzle in the palm of the hand. Then when the cock 6 is opened water will flow from the nozzle so that by moving the hand the water can be directed on the object to be sprayed or washed. As the hand is left free it may grasp a sponge, such as shown at A in Figure 1, and thus the device can be used for washing automobiles, windows and the like, the water passing through the sponge keeping the same clean and furnishing a sulficient amount of water to wash the object and rendering it unnecessary to dip the sponge in a pail or other receptacle of water.
The device can be used for spray purposes of all kinds as well as washing purposes. As the device is held on the hand without the use of the fingers the. fingers can be used for other purposes, such as holding a sponge, climbing a tree to spray the same, handling a pruning knife so that a tree can be pruned and sprayed at the same time.
It is thought from the foregoing tion that the advantages and novel of my invention will be readily apparent.
I desire it to be understood that I may make changes in the construction and in the combination and arrangement of the several parts, provided that such changes fall within the scope of the appended claims.
What I claim is z- 1. A spray device of the class described comprising a rigid supporting member of loop shape and adapted to be placed over the hand of a user a spray nozzle on the member for resting in the palm of the hand and a supply pipe supported by the top of descripfeatures the member and having a curved portion' passing between the fingers of the hand of the user and connected with the nozzle.
2. A device of the class described compris- 5 ing a triangular shaped member having a circular part on its base which is perforated,
a cup-shaped member fastened to the perforated part to form a spray nozzle, a pipe connected with said cup-shaped member and curving upwardly, a second ported at the apex of the supporting memher, a cock connecting the two pipes together and a threaded cap connected with the free end of the second pipe. I
In testimony whereof I afiix my signature.
CHARLES \V.'TORBERT.
