IMPROVEMENT IN GAME-BOARDS.

Specification forming part of Letters Patent No. 153,236, dated July 21, 1874; application filed June 13, 1874.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, JOHN BUTT, of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Toy Ten-Pin Alley, of which the following is a specification:

Figure 1 is a top view of my improved toy. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal section of the same, taken through the line a :11, Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a cross-section of the same, taken through the line 31y, Fig. 1. Fig. 4 is a detailed view of the catch.

My invention has for its object to furnish an improved toy ten-pin alley, in which the ball may be projected by a springflunger hung upon a pivot. in the combination of the pivoted projector with a table surrounded by a groove or channel, for projecting a ball against pins placed upon the said table, substantially as herein shown and described.

A is the center board or table of the toy, which is made perfectly true and level, and is surrounded upon its sides and forward end by a channel, B, descending gradually from the center of said forward end to the rear end, so as to guide the balls back to said rear end. The flange or outer wall of the groove B is made higher, to prevent the pins and balls from being scattered. Upon the forward end of the table A are formed marks to serve as guides in setting the pins 0. D is the baseplate of the projector, to the forward middle part of which is attached a tube, E, through which passes a rod, F, which has a concave disk, f attached to its forward end. To the rod F, near its forward end, is attached a collar,f which fits into the tube E, to serve as The invention consists va guide to the rod F. G is a coiled spring placed upon the rod F, the forward end of which rests against the collar f and its rear end rests against the rear end of the tube E. The rear part of the rod F passes out through a hole in the rear end of the tube E, and to its rear end is attached a catch, f the lower end of which is notched to receive the spring or trigger H and catch upon a shoulder formed upon said trigger. Upon the rear end of the spring H is formed a knob 0r thumb-piece, for convenience in depressing it to release the rod F. To the under side of the forward mid-- 7 die part of the base D is attached a pin, I, which enters a hole or socket in the table A, to pivot the projector D E F G H to said table.

In using the toy, the pins 0 are arranged in place, the rod E is drawn back and caught upon the trigger H, the projector is aimed, and one of the balls J is placed in front of the disk f Then, by depressing the trigger H, the rod F will be thrown forward by the spring G, projecting the ball J against the pins 0, and knocking down more or less of them, according to the skill with which it has been aimed.

Having thus described my invention,I claim as new and desire to secure by Lettter Patent The combination of the pivoted projector D E F G H I with the table A, surrounded with a groove or channel, B, for projecting a ball, J, against pins 0, placed upon the said table A, substantially as herein shown and described.
